The movie was a bit boring at the beginning but once the action started it was good. I didnt like the ending... even though it was a suspensful ending, it was a boring one.

Be Prepared ....

The movie is very tense overall, and I liked the aliens and the premise for their arrival - they have a very formidable method of attack. There were several parts of the story line that lacked cohesion and maybe some plausibility, but hey, half the time that's just sci-fi. But what you need to be prepared for is that you will have to wait for the sequel to find out anything meaningful about a resolution. As long as you're good with that, and you have an extra $12 sitting around (see it in 3D), it's worth seeing, although not a knock-your-socks-off hit.

Some good surprises

Acting was certainly not oscar award winning, but adequate for the movie. A bit disappointed in the amount of 3D. Not that I'm that into 3D, but for the money they charge extra, I would've liked a bit more. Special effects were pretty cool. Ending was just eh for me. I would go if you like sci fi and aren't an overanalyzer type.

Decent and inventive. Go if a sci-fi fan.

But not worth the $13 per price ticket cost. Why are they forcing us to view movies in 3d. After ten minutes you don't even realize its in 3d anymore anyways?! That said the film felt original but it also feels really fast paced just like the not so popular skyline. The effects and the invaders were actually very good. The sense of fear that the films director trys to portray was done well. The acting is pop tart at best. Unfortunately this film did suffer from budget and time cuts. It could have been a B+ film but instead rates just a C.

Darkest Hour is wasted in the theatre

My darkest hour was sitting in the theatre watching this cheap off shoot of cowboys and aliens. Bad acting, bad script and even bad 3D. Save your money and wait until it comes on network TV. It is not worth a 5 rental fee.
