The Croods is cute and colorful. Dreamworks did a great job creating a spectacular world filled with creatures you will find familiar and foreign at the same time.
For Adults: The Croods is a good (not great) animated movie. It is completely watchable and will definitely have you laughing. The backbone message is weak even for an animated film, but the meat of the movie is entertaining.
For parents: DreamWorks does an excellent job of making the dangerous creatures in the movie not scary to small children. The Croods held the attention of all the children in the theater. Some parents might take issue with the hitting/punching/biting of the Crood family, and Eep's parental disobedience. Those drawbacks would be for the pickiest of parents. Everyone else? It's a fun flick. If you cry at movies, you might want to bring a tissue.
There are fun stills at the beginning of the credits and a passable scene post credits.

It's a pretty good movie all and all.Keeps you laughing and the kid's seem to enjoy it. Don't pay the extra money to see it in 3D! Dreamworks definitly did'nt put many good 3D scenes in it. For the kid's though it's worth seeing.

The movie is for children, little to no hidden humor for the adults, that many films of this type offer, the message seemed complicated for an elementary aged audience, basically taking risk is key to a happy life, better to live short life with few episodes of extreme excitement and adventure, think free solo rock climber - which the characters do alot of, rather than a long life of risk advesrse routine ... that is depicted by retreating to the safety of "the cave" ... say like an accountant that works 9-5, and comes home to their home each day... In the end, the characters risk taking pays off and they make it safely to a paradise - but we know, in real life, for every person that successfully beats the odds, many die trying. Measuring risk, reward versus consequences, is one of the most important skills we can try to teach our children, this movie weighted to the reward, ignoring downside, no one or thing dies or his hurt, except an egg or two and one bird for dinner

My husband I took our daughter to see this just to indulge her & were not expecting much. From the movie poster & the title we thought it might be just a movie filled with bathroom humor. But we all enjoyed it! It moved nicely and had us all laughing, ad there were some beautiful scenes. There was plenty of room for this movie to be overly frightening, violent, or sad, as so many kids' movies are, but this was not. Meanwhile, it did make the point that life was a lot more dangerous for humans once, that we had to learn about things like fire (and art!). Also, the crazy family dynamics were a nice touch, showing that in some ways, things have always been as they are now!

The Croods was a great film. I am a grandparent and enjoyed it as much as my grandson. The graphics and animation are full of color and seemed real. We saw the 3D version, and there were many 3D scenes to enjoy. There is a lesson for kids to be patient with your parents; sometime parents may overdo it, but the reality is, parents always have your best interest at heart. And for parents; be patient with your children. They all go through a stage in life where they think they know more than you do, but if you remember to communicate your intentions and your love with them, you'll both get through life unscathed. I loved the movie and the story behind it. I will be adding this one to my video library when it becomes available. I may go see it on the big screen one more time! I really enjoyed it!
