Took my grandson to see this in 3D and it was a great way to bond with this 6 year old. We both loved it and not just because I'm a 6 year old at heart. It was funny. And of course it had an underlying message so it is good teaching tool for someone with young children. And again, it was real funny!

I was just expecting to go in and watch a movie with my son and have a little laugh. This movie had the two of us chuckling the whole time. It was very cute, and entertaining. I would recommend it to anyone to watch.

I'll preface my review with this: I'm no critic, and I'm not going to give a big description about all of the lessons and meanings woven into this film. I'm just a dad that likes to spend quality time with his kids. That being said, after riding our bikes on a wet Saturday afternoon, I decided to take a look at what was playing at the theatre. The description and the trailer made this seem like a fun choice for my 6-yo and (almost) 5-yo. And it was! The movie was very fun. Excellent animation from Dreamworks (as expected!) and some wonderful humor. I was a little worried that it would be full of the usual slaptsick toilet humor that you hear in so many kids films today, but that was not the case And I can't forget to mention the great story. There are excellent family values portrayed, and valuable lessons that young, and old, children will understand. Go see it in 3D. And don't forget to take your kids to the bathroom before the movie starts... ;)

Evolution

"The Croods" are a Neanderthal family who come upon the next evolution of mankind in the form of "Guy", who inspires them how to take chances and move out of cave existence. He teaches them about fire and survival in their existing and that their world is changing. The theme of the movie is "progress" and "evolution", but in a subtle way. It has humor and cute characters.
