First off, The Conjuring is not a gore fest. It's a full on "wait for it... wait for it..." creep show. The Conjuring creates tension so thick, you might have to remind yourself to breathe. It's one of the very few modern scary movies that relies on old fashioned storytelling while not abusing CGI and a ton of blood and guts.
The movie is well acted and well directed. There are a couple of small cheesy moments , but over all the plot was well fleshed out. The cinematography captures the creep factor extremely well. The sound effects layered on top are the icing on the cake!
If you like scary movies that don't rely heavily on CGI and gore to get your blood pumping, check this one out. If you bring someone that doesn't like to be scared, they may hate you for the rest of their life.
There are newspaper clippings during the beginning of the credits and nothing after
If you like my reviews, add me as a fan. I'll add you back!

What make this movie scary is that it's based on a true story. Many scenes gave me the creeps, the sound system in the theater made me jump at some scenes. In general, I haven't seen a good scary movie for a long time, and I am not disappointed in this one at all.

This is the must see scary movie of the year!!
I will admit I am jaded when it comes to scary movies and it takes a lot to scare me. However this movie did just that. I was actually scared. At one point thought about leaving the theater cause I was so scared. Thought about closing my eyes but didn't because I did not want to miss a thing! I loved this movie and would recommend it to everyone I know and those I do not. Again a must see scary movie of the year!!!

I loved this movie because of the perfect recipe for a horror movie. not too many scene hops going back in time and then back to current time as well as even featuring the actual medium that did this story that inspired the movie. (look for her in one of the classroom/lecture scenes with the main character, the mom, listening in on the lecture. it shows her in the front row.) I totally recommend it to horror movie fans but not to easy jumpers who jump at any loud noise.

Let me begin by saying that I *LOVE* horror films. However, in recent years, I have routinely said that "the only thing scary about them is how BAD they are". Not true with the Conjuring. I grew up in the northeast, home of many of the most "famous" Warren cases and setting for many of the iconic horror films of the 70s, so I was already very familiar (and believed in) the work of the Warrens. In some ways, I think that made this movie less frightening to me that to most others. That said, LOTS of people screamed out loud during this film - and did so without seeing the explicit gore that has become the standard since movies like "Hostel" (which I refer to as torture porn) enjoyed huge commercial success. If that genre is your thing, you will not like this film as much as I did. But this movie is solid, no matter. Unlike (the crappy) "Haunting in Connecticut", this movie stays true to the real story and will scare you. I had goosebumps during a LOT of scenes - you will too!
