When did vulgarity replace comedy?

I have been a Will Ferrell fan for a long time. His last few movies have been vulgar and lead me to believe he desperately needs to find another group of writers. I think back to his earlier movies and his style of comedy was refreshing but now he's hung up on the "F" bomb making up for the lack of writing skills. Come on people, this movie could have been hilarious with all the political material out there but the writers depended on sex and vulgarity to carry the movie. This is the first movie I've walked out of in a long time and was very disappointed. Save your money. Doesn't even qualify as a rental!

Timley but terrible

These two had a great platform to deliver some truly meaningful (and hilarious) commentary but instead resorted to largely toilet bowl humor. The most amusing lines are literally all given away in the trailers that you've probably already seen... and when you find yourself commenting on how the most memorable parts of the movie are how they ever so slightly tweaked those scenes from the trailer (replacing PG-13 language with R-rated language and a crossbow with a rifle), well... that's never a good sign.

What words would I use to describe this movie..Dirty, Filthy, oh! and NOT Funny! About 15 minutes into it I was thinking about leaving and lamenting over the fact that I wasted my money on this lousy movie. Don't spend your time or money on this mistake of a movie!!!

For a Will Ferrell movie, I was quite disappointed in this film. I didn't find it that funny and the plot was incredibly weak. I was very disappointed.

Zach Galifianakis and Will Ferrell did a great job in this movie. Zach makes you laugh just by his body movements, his walk, his talk - his dogs. There is a lot of profanity and trash talking in this movie so I would really adhere to the "R" rating. Good plot, lots of laughs and sad that this movie mimics the "real" politics of today. Lots of laughter in the fully packed theatre and very entertaining. The only thing I couldn't help notice was this: Remember when Ferrell did George W. Bush skits on SNL? It "seemed" to me that he was doing that same role to a point...same tones, same accent - maybe it's just me. I wouldn't mind seeing this movie again as the guy behind me was laughing so loud I missed a few lines.
