The use of "slap-stick" or "Mono-dimensional" comedy was quite prominent in this flick. Zach Galifianakis and Will Ferrell repeatably display their comedic capacity throughout the entire movie, but a part of me was left unsatisfied. This might be because It is discernible that the funniest moments were featured in the trailers and even though the overall message divulged the prevalent maculation of politics, I feel that the film's inclination to use sexual themes as a comedic outlet soiled its candidacy to be elected as "The Funniest Movie of the Summer." I never really laugh at a sex scene. I chuckle to combat the awkward tension between me and my parent's, coworkers, etc. I know I am not the only one.

This movie had an interesting story line which was spoiled by the gratuitous, explicit vulgar language. The explicit sex and language were completely unnecessary, and not expected from the trailer for the film. I have decided that Will Ferrell, no matter how funny he can be, simply can't make a decent movie. I was very troubled to see young children leaving the theater.
Another spoiler for us was seven previews before the movie began. A film billed as a 7 p.m. showing did not get started until nearly 7:30. That is too much.

I am a politically minded figure, and right off the bat I know that this would have a fairly liberal bias to it, something that I did not find detrimental, but I am just warning those who want to catch the flick. Aside from this, I expected quite a lot from this film, based most in fact that having Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis starring side by side probably meant that there would be no shortage of laughs. As is, the movie does not disappoint, though I would not say that it was a comedic powerhouse. The bottom line, if I had a choice to rent it, or buy it, I would side with renting it despite the fact that it is worth a watch in theaters.

The good : Hillarious. Zach Galifianakis does a great job with his character, and is the perfect straight man to Will Ferrell. The audience was roaring scene after scene. This is an excellent comedy that will keep you laughing through most of the movie.
The bad : Will Ferrell plays the same role he's played in every other Will Ferrell moviel; there's nothing new here. Like many comedies the laughs taper off towards the end.
Conclusion : if you liked Talledega Nights or you are a Zach Galifianakis fan (bonus for both), then you will be in tears.

Like many Will Ferrell movies, this one may be another with so many funny parts there are many that are overlooked the first time round and after you see it time or two you end up loving it even more. I remember the first time I saw Step Brothers, thought it was funny but didn't think it was that great, until the second/third go around where it's a classic. The combination of Will & Zach is like night and day as their characters are two over the top representations of Republicans & Democrats. A few comedy heavyweights (some literally) like Dan Akroyd, John Lithgow, and Jason Sudekis provide a little bit too the mix but this is clearly all on Will & Zach. An appropriate message with the upcoming election and how both parties are pretty much full of s***. It's nice to see people able to laugh about it rather than going crazy about whatever it is that's on the agenda. A good but very crude & vulgar flick so parents, wise up and leave the kids at home.
