    Campaign review

    by k-cross

We thought this film was very funny and we would recommend it to others. Will Ferrell and Zack Galifianakis are a real hoot in this movie; although I wouldn't recommend you take kids under 17. Some parts of this film are too racy for youn children.

    Surprised

I did not expect much from this movie except some jokes and a couple laughs. The movie ending up being hilarious and the plot was also decent. The movie kept you guessing and even touched a little bit of your heart. Definitely go see it if you are a fan of the actors and if you are not then you should be.

Intelligent, Pratfall, Gross-out, Over-The-Top Hilarious And Then Some.

It would seem this movie is playing to mixed audience reviews but for my two cents worth, I found it incredibly smart and funny. I began laughing less than a minute in and except for a brief spot here and there, the comedy maintained its momentum throughout the feature. There is simply so much comedic talent on this screen that it's nearly impossible to imagine it not being funny. It does take a little intelligence and maturity to get some of the political subtext, otherwise, it's spot on humor to anyone in the mood to laugh. I highly advise caution for sensitive parents with older teens, as it does bear a bit of the contemporary raunchiness now present in adult on-screen comedy. See it though. It's worth the ticket price and you won't leave disappointed because if you can't find something funny here, you're either deaf and blind, or you're already dead.

not that funny, not as good as expected

    by nng

This movie was just 'ok' - it wasn't extremely funny in a way that makes you laugh like anything--there was humor throughout the movie, but most of it just wasn't that great. I found myself just kind of semi amused sort of laughing a few times but not really. I wasn't expecting anything that great, but it was worse than I expected....there was also a lot of lame unnecessary crudeness that came off as humor...politicians punching babies, dogs, sex with someone's wife, and gialfianakis wasn't that impressive...ferrell did a good job playing a southern low life congressman but that's what made his character all the more unlikeable. the movie was entertaining storywise, but humorwise it just really lacked in many ways. Most of the theater was laughing but most of it was forced, because people were expecting funny and just laughing at anything that was a joke of some sorts. I would recommend to check it out but don't expect anything great...

    The Campaign

If you want to just chill out, not take a movie seriously and laugh a lot then go see this movie. If you thought Elf, Wedding Crashers, Ron Burgundy or Taladega Nights were immature, silly, waste of time, etc. then you're clearly not a fun person to be around and I suggest you skip this movie for fear it may make your head explode.

    Truly Hilarious!

    by

Will Ferrell did it again! His odd-ball, bumbling, clueless sense of humor was in full form. Who ever casted Zach Galifinakis in the film is just pure icing on the cake. Galifinakis' the odd, weird-guy character worked flawlessly on suddenly disrupting Ferrell's character "in-the bag" run for office. The film is truly hilarious, guaranteed a good laugh every thirty seconds! For a comedy movie, it moved along quite well, I didn't notice any scenes that would have slowed the movie down at all. However, what concerned me is that I noticed that some movie goers brought young children into the theater. Due to the strong profanity and subject matter in some of the scenes, I would strongly urge adults adhering to the 'R' rating - trust me!! Other than that, this movie will the perfect night out for if you're in a mood for a good laugh.

A nice warm-up for the upcoming presidential elections

    by pedsarq

Dirty politics taken to the next level of sleaze make this funny movie timely and highly entertaining. This movie is not ground-breaking in any way; instead, it is satisfied to go through the motions of the typical mud-slinging that goes on during an election and runs with it in true comedic fashion.. Thankfully, that's enough to make this movie entertaining, if not original.

    Lots of "Motherf..... bombs"

If you can deal with the language and you liked Talladega Nights, you will probably enjoy this movie. The swearing is a bit off-putting but definitely some funny parts.

Is this what politics is really like?? Scary thought.

A drop in the bucket in calling out the buying off of America...

Glad to see a movie that at least touches on America's malignancy that allows greed to take over the election process. Comedic wise, it was humorous, but not the usual stomach grabbing, can't stop laughing product that the wonderful Will Ferrell usually delivers. However, the topic makes the movie worth seeing, and Ferrell still showcases what a talent he is.

Extremely Funny and a Great Statement about our Politics today

    by twirch

The movie was hysterically funny. I love Zach and Will. They're super funny. Unfortunately, I think the statement about how our politics is now bought and sold by billionaires and the dirtiest tricks and lies told by candidates, along with a complicit media, will be lost on the sheeple of this country.

    Overall disappointment

I liked the promos for this movie and being an observer of the politics I wanted to see the movie from the first time I heard about it. Despite its R rating I took my 14 years old son with me to the theatre.

I checked the ratings of the movie at Fandango and noticed that Fans' average rating was either Go or Must Go, while the overall critics' rating was so-so. I took a quick look at some of the high ratings from critics as well as some of the average reviews. I was determined to go regardless of any negative comments.

Overall, I was disappointed with the movie. Many of the jokes were really "lame" and I just could not pretend that I liked them. My son, on the other hand, was laughing throughout the movie and his overall feeling about the movie was very positive. I took the time to explain to him & relate some of the scenes in the movie to real life situations such as influence of money in politics etc.

There were not too many people in the theatre on Saturday night at 7 pm

    Moronic

    by p3_sa

This movie was a huge disappointment. It had all the humor of a 13 year old preadolescent boy, but maybe that is being too harsh on 13 year old boys. With so much political fodder out there, it is mystifying that the writers chose to economize with their words by simply reusing f...k over and over and over...again. I am a fan of Will Ferrell, but this was a caricature Mr. Ferrell gone horribly awry. Skip this one.

    Important Message Clothed in Laughs

    by ahm

I am a bit of a political junkie - but I loved this! Yes, there's some immature sexual innuendo/content, which wasn't absolutely necessary - but the scenario was plausible, in the era after Citizens United...

Farrel did a terrific job, and Zack G was better than I had ever seen him.

There wasn't much effort made to hide the parallels to the current state of American politics, but that might help some people figure it out.

    Very Funny!

I was worried that this would not be all that funny, but it really was. Lots of laughs. You won't regret spending your money on seeing this.

    The Campaign: Hilarious

How timely this movie is and how good the script plays out on both characters. Politics under a magnifying glass and an amount of humor that is so amazingly funny that the laughter adds 5 years to your life. The theater (AMC Century City) was completely sold out and right so.
Even if you hate politics, this film will give you pure entertainment.
    Two thumbs up!
