portrayal of how to treat the mentally ill

Movie kept me on the edge of my seat, but I'm disappointed in the ending. Main character was obviously mentally ill, and -- spoiler alert -- he is locked in an underground shelter to die a slow tortorous death. Yes, I understand this person had tortured and killed his victims, but would a person do this if they were mentally healthy? No. Is mental illness something someone chooses? No. It is a brain disorder. There are genetic components and usually something in their environment (like the death of sibling) that triggers it. If someone had a brain tumor that made them behave like this killer, we would not think it's OK to torture and kill him, but it's still considered acceptable and even desirable to do it to the mentally ill. I think future generations will be aghast when they look at movies like this for their treatment of people with brain disoders and how they manipulate audiences to want them tortured and killed.

The acting was not the issue with this movie, however, what was this director thinking? This movie was an insult to my intelligence. Unless I'm missing the fact that this movie is in the Drama category, not the Horror category, this film is totally unbelievable. Extremely disappointed that an actor with Oscar behind her name could make a film like this. It's unfortunate to dispel someone's hard work, but if I were this director, I would look for some real advice before I would take on another script as bad as this one.

It was just ok for me, I could have waiting for it come on cable. I was a little disappointed with the lead, and oh and don't get me started on the ending (are you serious!!!! Bottom line go if you want but for me,it really wasn't worth it.

Ingenious topic! Imposing, compelling scenario, married with Halle Berry’s consummate characterization; director Brad Anderson and writer Richard D’ Ovidio open the windows to the innermost bowels, mechanisms of the 911 Emergency “hive” in Los Angeles. The sophistication of the tracking devices; frenetic cacophony, seconds culminating in success or failure; never having spent a modicum of mental muscle wondering about the operators, technicians behind the millions of emergency calls, this was eye- opening, educational, mesmerizing. Anderson and D’Ovidio illuminate a ubiquitous, unsung craft and its uncelebrated, unacknowledged, unknown heroes... THREE STARS!!! ***For full review please visit peneflix (dot) com!!!
