The Cabin in the Woods takes the traditional slasher movie, injects it with some sci-fi brilliance, courtesy of Joss Whedon's wonderful script, and then picks it up and shakes it until it explodes with so much blood and gore that it almost becomes comedic. Awesome movie!

It was about time they make a horror film like this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was sick and tired of all the mundane films.... This one talks about different
monsters from different cultures and it was just great!

Whedon has yet to let me down. This movie is fearfully intelligent and has the classic underlying Whedon wit. Don't think you have an idea of what's going on before you see it, because you don't.

Any fan of Joss Whedon will love this movie and non-fan of Joss Whedon will wonder why they are not a fan of Joss Whedon. Albiet, being a fan may give you a little bit of a sixth-sense as to what is about to happen next, but that does not take away from the fun when it does happen. Each scene is replete with Whedon-esque dialogue with a hint of Slayer Slang, and tells a cliche story without any actual cliches.
As always, try to watch the background, you'll catch some funny references and fore-shadowing.

I wouldn't say that I'm the biggest fan of scary movies, but I've definitely seen my fair share. It was so refreshing to see one that had great suspense and thrills, but also didn't take itself too seriously and had just enough funny moments to keep it lively. A surprisingly original plot full of twists and jump-in-your-seat moments, the character development and slow release of crucial information made the movie 100% worthwhile. I'd go see it again in a heartbeat. Though not appropriate for children, and Rated R, I think this is a great movie for young people wanting to have a good time and laugh with some gory, campy fun. The visual effects were great when needed, and as crazy and out of control as it got toward the end, it went along with the "anything can happen" theme of the film. I loved it and I really think that anyone with a good sense of humor and a taste for interesting concepts behind scary movies should buy a ticket right now.
