I read the book and loved it and the film did not disappoint. The plot line followed the book closely, the casting was spot on, and the experience very moving.

I loved this movie! Although it was based on the events surrounding the reign of Hitler, the message of the movie was the power that the spoken and written word has on an individual. The acting was superb and the visual of Germany during the winter was beautiful. Everyone should go and see this movie! My husband and I are still talking about it.

I loved this movie. The story and the acting is stellar. It's a story about love and sacrifice. I was kept engrossed throughout. Good for all except the very young. Make sure to bring the tissues.

After reading the book a couple of years ago I could hardly wait for the movie to come out. I went with 3 friends who had also read it and our husbands and none of us were disappointed! Its engaging and beautiful. Each character and setting were exactly as I had imagined. Geoffrey Rush was the perfect father- a much different character than his well known pirate, Barbosa. There were other actors which seemed familiar but are not well known and each was perfect for their part. The children are delightful and I hope to see more of them in next year's films. The WW2 story setting is grim and although the story is fiction, it is most likely a reality for many families. I would not recommend it for younger children but it would be a great companion to students learning world history.

This is my favorite book of all time, so I was wary about how the film would turn out. Needless to say, my fears were totally unfounded, as this movie was everything I needed it to be and more. The casting is absolutely perfect, and it follows the novel brilliantly. An absolute must see, and bring tissues!
