The Big Wedding

Definitely a chick flick. Light, several funny places and a couple heart string moments. De Nero was the best. While predictable, you will be entertained by the headliner cast, most playing their character role.

Outstanding cast, wonderfully written, this film had me laughing from start to finish! LOVED LOVED LOVED it!!! It's such a pleasure seeing Robert DeNiro doing comedy after a life long of playing tough guys. He's very funny! And he heads up a brilliant cast, from top to bottom. GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!

big actors having fun

We liked this movie. It was about big name actors doing a fun project because they liked it, not because they needed the money. A divorced couple has to act like they are married again for a weekend. The current wife, the out-of-country visitors, the three grown kids, one son's fiancee and her parents and the priest make for entertaining subplots galore. It's warm and funny and about real life. There are no explosions, car chases or helicopters. It's all about acting. If that sounds like something you'd like, go see it.

Great Cast, Mediocre Screenplay.

With an A-list cast like this one, it's not hard to imagine you'd get some bang for your ticket buck. Unfortunately, it's just not so with this film. This is not the fault of the onscreen talent. They can only do what's on the page. The problem here, plain and simple, is poor writing. Visually and in most every technical way, this work is outstanding. The script doesn't work. Still, thanks to the varied efforts of some of the best working actors and actresses today, you won't leave ten minutes in demanding your money back. If you can catch this one at a matinee price it would be a good bit fairer deal than the cost of an evening ticket. See this film though when it finally hits DVD, cable or stream....that shouldn't be very long. It's worth the look, just not the current ticket price.

The critics are crazy! This movie is a hoot! We laughed out loud, teared up a couple of times, and absolutely loved this movie. May see it again, or rent when it's available. The world needs laughter and beautiful scenes like those in this movie. One word of caution; the R rating is indeed correct. Not the best movie for youngsters. Darn, just thinking about the movie makes me grin big.
