The Most Excellent Marigold
As a 68-year-old African American woman, I have been a victim of categorization, all my life. I was reluctant to see this movie because I thought it would be another glib tribute to the compartment for designated "old folks." Much to my surprise and joy, it was upbeat and inspirational with Judi Dench and Maggie Smith delivering heartening performances that were not "performances" at all. I believed them. Oh yeah, there are a few heavy handed "clunkers"such as the subplot of the heinous caste system, but the vigor of the characters, plus the colorful glimpses of India are far more memorable. If you can persuade a "non-senior" to see this movie, you will have given them a gift of insight and vision. It's not so bad growing old (oops!), growing up.
