It's a very good movie. I do recommend seeing it in 3-D. The CGI and other special effects are spectacular and clearly would not be appreciated fully in 2-D. The story is good, although not as faithful to the comic book as Tobey Maguire's first Spider-man movie.
I was unfamiliar with the British actor Andrew Garfield before he became Peter Parker in this version of Spiderman. He's a fine actor, and his American English was impeccable - no hint of his British accent, which he definitely has per his appearance on Jay Leno a few weeks ago. Garfield's Parker was less nerdy and more edgy than Maguire's; in fact, he was in some ways pretty hip. The story itself was edgier and more hip than the original Maguire movie, but also more intense, and lacked the humor of the original.
Overall I'd have to rate the original as better than this one because the story is better, but this one is definitely quite good. Edge to this one for the special effects.

Wow! Marc Webb really delivered a well directed, well acted, well visualized story. Going into this movie, I had mixed feelings and thoughts about a new Spiderman, new costume, and new origin story. Then, into the first five minutes of the flick, I really liked where this film was leading. Furthermore, I was fully invested in each and every character as they came along and I was fully engaged in this movie until the movie end. Kudos to the rising star Andrew Garfield for delivering a new Spiderman that I and my family will be repeat watching for years to come. Also, Kudos to Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen and Sally Field for rendering knock out supporting roles with heart and sole.

Andrew Garfield was an awesome pick for this role. He added his own bit of attitude to Peter Parker as well as Spiderman. I really preferred this story to the Tobey Maguire version. There was a bunch of action, some suspense, and just the right amount of humor. And of course Stan Lee made his little cameo.
...And there was no "evil bangs" like in Spiderman 3... Whew!

I've seen the other Spiderman movies and although they were very good, especially the first and second, this was as good or better then those and extremely better in some areas. The beginning was a tiny bit slow but it helped to introduce the characters so you cared a little about them.
Once the action started I thought it was absolutely fantastic, I did see it in 3D so I'm sure this added to the enjoyment, but the imagery in and around NYC was unbelievable. The camera angles and movements were really, really good, you knew a lot of thought was put into the scene to provide the ultimate enjoyment. The cinematography and mis-en-scene throughout the movie was hands down the best in the Spiderman franchise. I thought Andrew Garfield was fantastic as Peter Parker and Emma Stone, as always, was a total joy to watch.

I Loved it, in the begining I thought that it wasnt going to be all that great. It turned out to be one of the better spiderman movies because he wasnt as nerdy as the last spider man and he showed much more interest in Gwen than the previous spiderman shower in mary jane. Overall this movie is better because its much more realistic an caters a modern day audience. I loved it.
