The early news of this movie did not move me and I was not sure about Andrew Garfield. Well, I can honestly say that he did a great job as Peter/Spider-Man. Marc Webb gave Garfield a license for a more realistic approach to Peter than Raimi's films. He brings a lot of emotion to the character, but is still fun. He does an amazing job, pardon the pun. Martin Sheen is also stellar as Uncle Ben. You feel the connection between him and Peter. Sally Fields has some good scenes, Dennis Leary is spot on as Captain Stacy, and Emma Watson is lovely as Gwen. The Lizard works pretty well as a villian, but I did feel the character was missing a little something. Rhys Ifans is a fine actor and does a good job, but the development of the character to me could have been better. There was a lot to get through though in this movie so something had to be short changed. Norman Osborn will surely be in the next one. The movie is emotional with spectacular visuals and is most importantly fun! Go see it.!

The movie was great but the 3D was not the best... Movies are losing the real 3D aspect of the movies... I would have see in it on 2D and still gotten the great movie. Go see it in 2D, don't pay the extra money for the 3D the value is not there. What I do recommend is to go see it in IMAX for the great sound.
Enjoy the movie.

I must admit that I had my reservations about seeing a Spiderman reboot so soon, especially as I enjoyed the first two in the first trilogy so much. However, as soon as the movie started, my fears were put to rest. The story the setting and the characters stay true to the myth and plot lines of the comics, so fan boys everywhere will rest easy. What is more, it covers the lost Gwen Stacy years which were ignored in the first trilogy, and is faithful to the events and characters originally faced by Spiderman in his heyday. Even the events that led to Uncle Ben's passing are given a fresh update, while sticking true to the plot and how Spiderman decides to combat crime. Newbies will be impressed, and fans of the comics will be pleased, so this is definitely a win-win for all. AND the 3D effects and web slinging were truly amazing in this one. Cannot wait for the DVD and exclusive/extended content to come. Very well done, so go out and enjoy!

Yet another good adaptation of the web slinger. I really enjoyed all the characters and the build up of each one. The Best Stan Lee cameo of any of the films he's been in to date!! Can't wait for more.

So I waited a day to let the movie marinate and see if it was just a knee jerk reaction after the utter travesty that was Spiderman 3 and nope. Amazing Spiderman was still awesome. I am a lifelong geek and have been reading Spiderman comics for the last couple of years. And this movie was phenomenal and stayed very true to the source material.
Was it perfect? No. I definitely had issues with a few of the choices in the movie producers/directors/writers made but it was still a great movie. By far the most accurate depiction of Peter Parker that we have gotten. But it wasn't just him, Dr. Connors/Lizard was given the same treatment in his character development and it was nice that such a big character of the original origin story was kept around.
Lastly, for those that don't read comics. This movie isn't based on Stan Lee's origin story but rather a reboot/alternate one developed more recently.
PS - Stan's cameo is the best one to date in my opinion.
