    Your Friendly Neighborhood Reboot...That's Amazing!

    by

Despite all the skepticism about rebooting a successful franchise and starting all over again at square one, well, I don't think I'll bother watching the Tobey Maguire series by choice again. This new, darker, truer take by the aptly-named Marc Webb caught any doubts I had in its web of entertainment while Uncle Ben was still alive. Andrew Garfield was superb as Peter Parker and nailed the awkward geek persona. Emma Stone, what can I say? She's stunningly beautiful and continues to firmly establish herself as not just a witty comedienne but a solid actress to be taken seriously. Rhys Ifans as Curt Connors/The Lizard was also excellent and played the good guy/bad monster-thing to a "T." The story was enthralling, the origin is tragic and the dynamic of having all things that Peter is combatting be way over his head made for a real stress-inducing film. The Spider-Man story is very human and very relatable and "The Amazing Spider-Man" really captures that essence in its web.

    THE Spiderman movie

    by larryhl

Finally, a Peter Parker that is intelligent and not emo. Also his development from teen motivated by revenge to superhero dedicated to protecting the people is done very well. Eagerly awaiting the sequel!

    A Shocker

Went in expecting little; came away by how much of an improvement this movie was from the original series. The acting was fantastic (Garfield and Stone dominated and had great chemistry), the effects were brilliant, and the story was much more thoughtful and intellectual than the first Spider-Man. Admittedly, some of the story was left untold, but I am happy to watch the second one in a few years to find out the rest.

Honestly, you will not leave disappointed. It was brilliant.

Is it the same Spider-Man you've already seen?

First off I do have to say, I'm a huge Spider-Man fan more-so for the Amazing Spider-Man comic book series when I was a child. For me no other Spider-Man title was official unless it was stamped The Amazing Spider-Man, and there were others like say Spider-Man, Spectacular Spider-Man, Web of Spider-Man just to name a few. That being said, this movie had some expectations to fill since it dared land the official title. Would there be a teen really struggling with real problems? Would he carry on the same sarcasm humor that Toby really couldn't carry over from the comic book realm? Would the acrobatics be able to amaze and convince me that this was the incarnate straight from colored pages I read? Toby never fit the bill, but Andrew Garfield stuck to the essence and made it happen. No matter how many times you re-tell this story you have to stick with the basics, but they did so with emotion, twists, a good cliffhanger and Amazement.

    The amazing spiderman

    by

Peter Parker really is the amazing spiderman, this movie blew my mind and is definetly better than the other's. Better cast, Andrew Garfield was born to Spiderman, he had the charm and personality. Emma Stone again perfect and Denis Leary and Rhys Ifans were perfectly casted in their roles as well. The 3d effects were amazing and is definetly a must see for any fan no matter what age they are, but don't take my word for it, see it for yourselves.

    Great Summer Film

The Amazing Spider-Man is a highly entertaining summer film that sticks closer to the Spider-Man comics, yet is updated for 21st century audiences. Peter Parker is once again a shy science-nerd high-schooler who gets bitten by a genetically-modified (and possibly radioactive) spider who becomes the first cross genetic hybrid. Spidey's web shooters are back (undoing a major cop-out of the last films - if Peter grew web spinners, it would be located near his butt, not his wrists).

The film dives a bit more into character development and one can feel Peter's anguish and emotional turmoil throughout the film.

The action sequences are fast and furious and Spider-Man squeaks out of a bunch of near-death experiences singed, battered and bruised showing us that he is man, not Superman.

A must see for all and comic book fans a keeper.

    The Amazing Spiderman

    by dozierc

I really enjoyed this movie and the twist of PP parents. What really happened to them, who was that guy at the very end scene. Hopefully you did not leave when credits started to roll or you would have missed that. Who are PP parents are they spies, assassins or what....... Will have to wait to 2014 or so for the next installment. I also love how Stan Lee always inserts himself in his movies nothing big just a bit role. He's SL he's the man.

    Indeed Amazing Story

The Amazing Spider-Man film was indeed amazing I thought. I loved the new more broader different origin story take on Spider-Man. I am definitely looking forward for the sequel. The film left a few puzzling story cliff hangers parts to be revealed in the next film. All I can really say is the actor Andrew Garlfield really nailed the part as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Go see it! :)

    dark spider-man?

Although it has been 10years since the first Toby McQuire Spider-Man movie debuted, it has only been 5 sice the last one; comparisons are bound to happen. Toby = nerdy loner, Andrew = brooding loner. The Amazing Spider-Man's Parker was moer off-putting. The brooding loner bit seemed more apt for Kick-*** than for Marvel's most recognizable hero. the writer's forget that this is Peter's story, not his parents story. We don't need to know anything about them. Stan's story was simple a nice guy with a heart and a conscious who was in the wrong place at the wrong tme could becone a hero. This story was Peter was destined to become Spider-Man, that is the wrong message. Stan appealed to every kid who was picked or bullied, this story did not speak to that kid. I am not sure this story needed to be told.
    Acting = A
    Special effects = A-
CGI Spidey and Lizard = A
    Story = C+
    Good, but not amazing.

    Spider-man

    by margish

It's a very good movie. I do recommend seeing it in 3-D. The CGI and other special effects are spectacular and clearly would not be appreciated fully in 2-D. The story is good, although not as faithful to the comic book as Tobey Maguire's first Spider-man movie.

I was unfamiliar with the British actor Andrew Garfield before he became Peter Parker in this version of Spiderman. He's a fine actor, and his American English was impeccable - no hint of his British accent, which he definitely has per his appearance on Jay Leno a few weeks ago. Garfield's Parker was less nerdy and more edgy than Maguire's; in fact, he was in some ways pretty hip. The story itself was edgier and more hip than the original Maguire movie, but also more intense, and lacked the humor of the original.

Overall I'd have to rate the original as better than this one because the story is better, but this one is definitely quite good. Edge to this one for the special effects.

    Spider-man 3D

You Have to be a fan of spider-man If you are then this is a great Movie, More updated explaination of spider-man being bitten to become who he is. The device to shoot his web is more believeable. His life is closer to a real teenager of his time. The lead actors are really good. The lizard was cool. The first time kids and yes us older ones loved it. Must go see. 3D is really cool concept.wish I could shoot a web on some people mouths like in the movie, cool concept sad it wont work on my kids.. Ha Ha just kidding..

An interesting take on an old story

    by TWM71

I wasn't sure how this new version was going to turn out, but I genuinely liked it. It was grittier, somehow. More real than the previous versions. The story felt as though it had been reduced to core elements, despite the heavy use of special effects, which didn't get in the way thankfully. Well worth your dollar, however, are the scenes of ol' Webhead in motion. Swinging through the air, climbing up buildings, battling large lizards. Breathtaking stuff.

BETTER THAN ALL THE ONES BEFORE!!!

This movie rocked! Andrew Garfileld was made for this role and he has a wonderful personality and it really comes out in this role. The script is very well written and much more believable than the other movies have been. We saw it in 3 D and it was incredible. The graphics and special effects will blow your mind. Andrew and Emma Stone have incredible chemistry and you can feel their emotion. Sally Field plays Aunt Mae beautifully to Martin Sheens Uncle Ben. Both are incredible!

We have been waiting for this movie to come out and it was worth every minute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
