Both Brilliant And Stupid At The Same Time

The film makers do a great job of showing the most well known answers to the global warming crisis (that we need to switch to wind power, etc) in a very creative way. But they don't include the related cultural / sociological crisis - that humanity is at war with itself - in their film at all. This overarching "crisis of the spirit" impacts whether we can solve ANY of the other crises we face! The film could have shown so more than just missed opportunities to build windmills. It could have shown the missed opportunities to apply the lessons of Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr... as well as failing to design an economic system based on abundance instead of scarcity... all part of transforming human society from a competition-dominated culture of war to a collaboration-based culture of peace.... a culture in which we are truly and comprehensively "wise" instead of "stupid". Must see - I can't speak to the film-making, though I found it quite entertaining. The point is driven home, though. We must reverse glbal warming and not delay one more day. Everyone should see this film. Will it be made available soon?

Go see this, but keep in mind that the director has taken liberties with her subject matter, particularly the several individuals around the world she chose to document; with the exception of the man in his 80's from the Swiss/French Alps, whose story was told without a slant, the other stories were skewed in a negative or positive way, depending on the director's opinion. Also, her live premier-night appearance in NY, where she rudely tried to orchestrate onstage events -including an awkward and terrible introduction of Kofi Annan and the president of the Maldives--did a lot to obscure the message she was trying to deliver. I DO think people should go see the film. Franny Armstrong deserves praise for having achieved what she did in creating this film --a wake-up call regarding global warming. But she should stay BEHIND the camera, not in front of it. Her nervous, arrogant, bitchy attitude came across (along with several expletives deleted that were inadvertantly broadcast).

Excellent...and frightening. I hope it will move people to become the solution to climate control. I thought I was doing my part but now know I have a lot of work to do.
