Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds"

It was wonderful to see "The Birds" on the big screen! This Hitchcock film has always been one of my favorites, it has such a great atmosphere taking place in the quaint town of Bodaga Bay California. Many viewers often find the start of the film slow going ,but I like getting to know the characters and how they interact with each other. Once the bird attacks begin it can be quite disturbing to watch, many of the victims are children! The special effects are still very effective for a film released in 1963. Another great asset of the film is the soundtrack, no music just the eerie electronic sounds of birds. The newly restored film is gorgeous, full of rich colors, especially RED. "The Birds" is a classic film that I will always enjoy!

My husband and I had to leave half way through the movie because the seats were killing us and the movie was painfully loud. I was hoping the movie had been remastered or digitized for clarity but that was not the case. A tad bit grainy. Excellent movie but I would rather watch it on a comfortable couch on a small TV than to endure the torture racks that pass for seats in a movie theater. I must say though that there is nothing like seeing it on the big screen.

This is one if Hitchcock's best movies! Wonderfully directed and casted to perfection! Despite the "effects" being old fashion in comparison to today's time ....truly great! Have watched this movie over and over again, and will continue to do so. Loved seeing it on the silver screen.

They don't make movies like this anymore. All is computer generated and over the top blood and gore. Here we actually have characters that we get to know and like or not and watch their lives unfold in a way that we can relate to. The fear is real and isn't over done. Makes you think and focus on the story and not just the effects. It was so good to see it in the theater again. Thanks to TCM and Fandango for these wonderful nights. Keep em coming!!!!

It couldn't have made me happier, to be able to experience this movie on the big screen in all its original splendor. Alfred Hitchcock is a genius at creating an environment that sucks you in and every character stands on it's own with clear purpose. The pre-movie introduction by Robert Osborne and interview with Tippi Hedren enriched the overall experience, bringing the viewer into the back story- which is so fascinating for classic movie fans. TCM delivers like no other. Looking forward to the next classic movie showing!
