    The Birds

It was great seeing this on the Big screen! Hitches ability to entertain are genius! The lack of music coupled with long periods of silence then Boom really loud shrieks from the birds was unnerving. I wish it had been shown in wide screen and at times it looked blown up and blurry which I hear happens when vintage films are converted to Blue ray. Also thought there should have been some commentary by Robert Osborne following the end.

    1963 Classic

It was a real pleasure to watch The Birds on the big screen for the first time. It's the way it was meant to be seen. I've seen it dozens of times and it's amazing how much you miss just going to the fridge or answering a phone. The downside was that I found out about this event on the day it was scheduled to play. If I had had enough time I would have told all my film buff friends, and I live in Seattle and there are alot of them. Special thanks to the AMC in @ Southcenter for being the only theatre in Washington to have a matinee of the movie.

    Wonderful!!!

It couldn't have made me happier, to be able to experience this movie on the big screen in all its original splendor.

Alfred Hitchcock is a genius at creating an environment that sucks you in and every character stands on it's own with clear purpose. The pre-movie introduction by Robert Osborne and interview with Tippi Hedren enriched the overall experience, bringing the viewer into the back story- which is so fascinating for classic movie fans.

TCM delivers like no other. Looking forward to the next classic movie showing!

    The Birds

There was white outline around the characters throughout most of the movie which was distracting. Overall the picture quality was not as good as I expected. It also seems to me that some of the movie was edited out but it's been a long time since I'd seen it so I could be wrong.

"The Birds" at Regal St. Louis Mills

The film was wonderful, but the presentation was so sloppy and unprofessional that we were given our money back. The digital feed at first started with the sound being that of the previews. Then that stopped, bit the we were at the wrong spot in Robert Osborne's interview. Then all of that was rewound. Then the presentation stopped and the lights came back up. Then it restarted, but we lost part of the interview. Once the film began, things were basically fine, though the image seemed a bit dark in spots. Then the film ended, but the house lights were not brought back up, so patrons had to find their way out with the aid of light emanating from cell phones and pocket flashlights.

    The Birds

    by

First, the special event started out with interviews of the stars of the movie, Tippi Hedren, Suzanne Pleshette, and Rod Taylor. It was so enlightening to hear about how they got the parts, especially how Tippi was discovered by Alfred Hitchcock. The enhanced movie was great and I highly recommend any events offered by Fathom Events. Even though I saw the movie before (many, many years ago) it was still suspenseful and great to see on the big screen.

    The Birds

There is nothing better than watching a classic movie on the big screen. Hitchcock is one of my favorite directors.

    Timeless Classic

I remember the first time I watched The Birds at home as a child. I was so scared I couldn't sleep. Years later, I have watched it over and over and when the opportunity to see it on the big screen presented itself I just had to see it! My boyfriend and I dressed up as Melanie and Mitch and had a blast. The movie was everything I had imagined on the big screen.....more intense, dramatic and frightening and the sounds of the screeching birds was so loud I had to cover my ears. As the children ran down the hill while birds attacked them, I felt as if I were one of them. What a wonderful idea to show this classic Hitchcock film on the big screen.

    Nothing else like it

They don't make movies like this anymore. All is computer generated and over the top blood and gore. Here we actually have characters that we get to know and like or not and watch their lives unfold in a way that we can relate to. The fear is real and isn't over done. Makes you think and focus on the story and not just the effects. It was so good to see it in the theater again. Thanks to TCM and Fandango for these wonderful nights. Keep em coming!!!!

What an incredible evening reliving the suspense of this classic. Well done and love the concept. Keep them coming.

    The Birds

Wonderfully entertaining to see each scene artistically created by Hitchcock. Using so many of his then innovative ideas to compose the feelings of fear in the audience. In light of today's multitude of extreme special effects, it was delightful (OK, even humerous in some scenes) to experience the adventure of this movie again. Frankly, I'd go again

    Love Hitchcock Classics!

    by Tangelo

I'd only ever seen clips of this Hitchcock classic until my husband and I went to see it last night. He doesn't like old movies (something about lack of special effects) but I talked him into this one in honor of Halloween. We both enjoyed it so much that I think I stand a chance of getting him to try a few more old classics! - The era, cast, and storyline was romantic and enchanting.- and we didn't see any strings above the birds, they did a great job of digitally re-mastering. Can't wait for Frankenstein and Bride of Frankie next month!

    I LOVED It!

THE BIRDS is one of my favorite Hitchcock movies; however, until last night I had never seen it on the "big screen" with an audience.

First of all, the video and audio restorations are pristine! The effects hold up well considering the movie is almost 50 years old, and there was no CGI in 1963. Seeing it on the "big screen" allowed me to notice details I had previously missed.

Unlike many of today's movies, Hitch takes his time building the characters, which appeals to me. Movies with only one action scene after another leave me cold. Although this is considered by some to be a "flawed" movie, it deals well with the human side of how people deal with unexpected and major disruptions to their everyday lives.

I especially love the bantering between Tippi Hedren and Rod Taylor at the beginning of the film.

I look forward to receiving THE MASTERPIECE COLLECTION in Blu-Ray, which includes THE BIRDS.
