Loved seeing it on the big screen once again. We are very much enjoying these wonderful opportunities to see great cinema again on the big screen. Please keep offering more of the great, classic films from yesterday!

E.T. on the big screen was an experience, but not much more than watching it in HD at home

I was not lucky enough to see E.T. while it was in theaters so I jumped at the chance to see it during the special re-release. What actually turned out to be an HD play back from a Dish Network DVR and not a digital theater copy or anything special. The sound was great but the picture was just the same as watching it at home. If the tickets were discounted in some way for a lackluster presentation then this might be worth but full price admission was a too much for what was provided. Wait and catch the blu-ray release of E.T. at home instead. And you may want to wait on the future Fathom Events presentations of classic films until the price of admission goes down or there are special perks like free popcorn and/or posters.

Just as enchanting and magical as the first time I saw it

E.T. is still a celebration of childhood and its innocence. With a child's faith, Elliot coaxed E.T. to his home, was completely open and friendly to him, and took care of him. Then he helped him go home again. From the Reese's pieces to the wonderful closet full of toys, to the simple objects they brought E.T., it was a kid's world.

E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial

It had been 30 years since I had last seen E.T. in a theatre, so it was great to see it on the big screen again. The quality of the image and the sound was excellent. I applaud the recent tendency to have newly restored movies displayed in theaters not long before they get released on Blu-Ray. One simply does not get the same experience at home as one does on the big screen. I think these events would get rather better attendance if the publicity about them was better (I happened to catch a matinee showing as this was shown the same day as the Presidential Campaign Debate in the evening). The matinee audience was somewhat thin. Perhaps spreading the word a bit more and perhaps showing it on two evenings in a row would be better.
