Great performances by Shannon and Jessica Chastain (where'd this chick come from?! What a year she's had!) Creepy and unsettling in the best way. A must for fans of thoughtful horror films.

Excellent acting job by the actors and a very well-written story. Loved the twist ending.

A slow, taut build marked with strong performances from Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain. Not too sure what to make of the open ending, but overall a good movie.

One of the best films of the year!

Most of the big budget blockbusters this year have either been so boring that they put me to sleep, or fall under a very strict formula that panders to the average "low-IQ" movie-goer, but this film has so many elements of great film making, that it is hard to deny its impact when the year in movies is reviewed. This is not a film that relies on CG to tell a story, or as a substitute for poor storytelling; It is used to evoke a sense of dread, and clarify what can only be described using distinct images, where words lack the proper ability. It is ultimately a film that questions a persons faith, and allows them to realize that, although everyone else may find you to be a little "off your rocker", does this allow your faith to falter, or do you believe until the very end? It is cinema at its best, and the first film that has left me satisfied all year.
