TAKE MY EYES = Vivid Character Study

Iciar Bollain's film TAKE MY EYES is a very searing look into the plight a abused wife of 9 years goes through when desperately trying to breal free of her violent husband. No easy answers this poignant earnest depiction deals with as we see the woman (amazingly well acted by Laia Marull) time and time again leave in a frantic state only to be lured back by her wrathful husband (sensitively played against caricature by Luis Tosar). Gripping and totally involving is this unnerving tale of succumbing to one's own faults then superceding them valiantly! Honest and wonderfully insightful moviemaking here!
