A well told story with amazing scenery

In Sweet Land the story unfolds in tune with the Midwestern scenery of the movie and the actors are allowed time to convey their characters not just through words, but by subtle motions and facial expressions. I really enjoyed the movie and its tenderness has stayed with me.

no gratuitous violence or sex or cursing. I'm not a prude but it gets so boring and formulaic sometimes. This was a refreshing movie about emotions, relationships and moxie. I loved it!

    SweetLand-you wont forget it!

I went to this movie after hearing a John Heard interview on the radio. This was the best movie I've seen all year!! It should receive Oscars at many levels for the writing, performance, cinematography, etc. Perhaps I'm biased by my own Norwegian heritage, but I thought the way the story was told in different timeframes really allowed you to see the impact of the two central characters. And as love stories go, this one demonstrates so well that love can overcome so many obstacles. Finally, it appeals to us to appreciate our ancestors' hard work from a fresh perspective.

Do go see this, bring your family and friends, and some kleenex!
