Batman May Be in the 'Justice League of America' Movie, but Christian Bale Says He's Out

Warner Bros. needs Batman if it's ever going to build an Avengers-level Justice League of America movie (and that, by all accounts, is the studio’s eventual plan). But according to Christian Bale, he won’t be the one donning the cape and cowl of the Caped Crusader to make that happen.

The success of Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel has DC Comics fans speculating as to when a JLA movie might be able to make it to theaters. Warner, so far, has suggested that we’ll see Man of Steel 2 before we see Justice League, as there are several issues that need to be resolved before the JLA can unite in a big-screen adventure. Certain heroes – from Wonder Woman to the Flash – need to be introduced, possibly in their own stand-alone movies. And then there’s the issue of Batman, who “retired” and passed the torch at the end of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises

Now Nolan’s Batman, Bale, says he plans to stay on the sidelines if and when a Justice League movie comes to fruition.

Speaking with EW.com, Bale said that he’s happy to leave Batman after the three Nolan films, and though he hasn’t been approached by anyone for a role in the Justice League, it’s not something that interests him.

”I have no information, no knowledge about anything. I’ve literally not had a conversation with a living soul. I understand that they may be making a Justice League movie, that’s it.

It’s a torch that should be handed from one actor to another. So I enjoy looking forward to what somebody else will come up with.”

That’s a definitive “no,” as far as I’m concerned, which means Warner can turn and look in a different direction.

Does that mean Joseph Gordon-Levitt tries to play Batman as John Blake, the rookie Gotham cop from Rises? Or does the studio completely recast with a brand new Batman – as it once tried to do when Armie Hammer ALMOST played the hero for George Miller’s failed JLA movie?

There are several directions Warner can go, at the moment, but Bale will not be joining them. So tell us, who would YOU like to see in the Batsuit the next time the Dark Knight graces the silver screen?

A JLA Batman should be in his early thirties and no need for another back story everybody already knows him at this point, the actor doesn't need to be perfect. Batman is only a part of the JLA. Sure he should be instrumental in gathering the others but we don't need to focus on him all that much. Ryan Gosling or Justin Timberlake would probably be fair choices as Bruce Wayne needs to be charismatic, or for that matter Give Ben Affleck a chance to regain some geek cred after the Daredevil film. Lol! Or give a newcomer a shot at donning the Batsuit

It needs to be an actor with some serious acting chops that can also do action. Batman has always been a very conflicted character, so the actor needs to be able to show a range of emotions. Personally, I think DC has a long way to go before it is ready to unveil anything to rival The Avengers.

Bale is right, the torch has been passed.Joseph Gordon Levitt or someone new should be the next Batman.I hope they choose an American actor this time around though.Ryan Gosling would make an excellent new Batman choice also.He has the perfect mix of toughness and intelligence much like Christian Bale but younger.

I hate you so much right now... he played Roger Murtagh in Lethal Weapon; he was also in Predator 2, The Color Purple, Witness, Angels in the Outfield, Operation Dumbo Drop, and the Royal Tenenbaums to name a few. And its "Danny" Glover. He was actually named Danny, its not a nickname for Daniel in his case.
