Turns out Gatsby is pretty great after all. The Baz Luhrmann directed romantic drama starring Leonardo DiCaprio raked in $3.2 million from midnight shows, well above studio expectations. The film is expected to "overperform" and bring in as much as $40 million plus this weekend.

Gatsby is also in a dead heat in this week's Fanticipation, being narrowly edged out by Iron Man 3.

The Great Gatsby accounted for 65% of ticket sales on Fandango yesterday and is performing well despite the continued momentum of Iron Man 3. We surveyed more than 1,000 Gatsby ticket-buyers about the film. 94% said the film's grand scale, costumes and set design prompted them to buy a ticket while 83% said the eclectic soundtrack appealed to them. Additionally, 61% considered themselves fans of Luhrmann while 38% planned to include the film in their Mother's Day weekend plans.

DiCaprio is the main draw for many people anticipating the movie with 83% of respondents saying he was the actor they most wanted to see in the film. Additionally, 80% said they had read the novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Recently, we spoke with the cast of the film including Dicaprio who talked about why he was skeptical about playing the title character. Watch below, then scroll on for more Gatsby.

So now that you know a little bit about the film and the anticipation built around it, you might be wondering who the characters in the movie are. For most of us, it's been several years (or decades) since we last read the novel as part of our school curriculum but Visual.ly posted a handy flow chart for people to get re-acquainted with the main players in the story. Take a look below and click for a larger version.

Finally, in case you missed anything Gatsby related recently, here's a round-up of all the great content we've posted on Fandango and our sister site Movies.com. Click on over for more Gatsby goodness and be sure to let us know what you thought of the film! Cheers!
