It took me a while to get interested in this movie. It was slow in the beginning and was like watching someones home movies. I got invested in the story near the end but overall I wish I had skipped it,

a real family story

I liked it, it's a slow movie, focused in a family's characters, that brings out what everybody knows but supposed to be secret. While not a "not to be missed" movie, it is of particular interest to those of us with an interest in human nature and feelings.

It was a compelling look into a family. I am not spoiling anything, though, when I say that this documentary was filmed with actors; not the family members and friends interviewed. Knowing this after the movie was over made we wonder more about the family.

It was basically a home movie....probably fascinating for the producers family but not so much for everyone else....boring!!! I was looking for more insight to the underlying dynamics that affect all paternal, maternal child and siblings relationships.

Stories WE Tell

This is my life. On my Mom's deathbed she said "When I was young" and died. I didn't know what she meant until I found a letter she had written back in 1961 about how sad she was that her "lover" was leaving and how sad she was that she couldn't get a divorce and take my two sisters with them. She chose to stay in a loveless marriage and I was born 9 mos later. I too looked different than the rest of my family. Dad and sisters are Mexican and I was born with white hair, fair skin, and blue eyes. Growing up everyone always told me that I must be the milkman's daughter but I just thought I looked like Mom and never knew they had ever been separated. All I know about my biological father is that he was enrolled in ammunition inspector school in Savanna Illinois in 1961. Mom's family is gone and so are her best friends. Thank you for helping me continue the search for my bio dad.
