    Not blown away

    by redyeah

With these types of movies there are only two categories that describe the outcome. One is the intense, action packed, greatly told movie that blows the viewer away. The other is just unused talent. Unfortunately, for me this falls into the latter category. It was okay, but with the cast it had, I expected one of the greats. Plot was just not very absorbing. To be honest, as I type this it has actually left my mind. Too bad, it's just not memorable.

State of Play - Overused Plot, Predictable

I was not very impressed with State of Play, even though I used to work for a newspaper and I think that Russell Crowe got into his character pretty well. He did mutter through some of his lines, though. I was also hoping to see more of Rachel McAdams. She only had a few brief appearances.

The two main problems that I had with the movie were that it was extremely predictable from the very start and that the plot seemed to be overused. It was reminiscent of a much better 1994 Ron Howard movie, entitled The Paper, and even had a very similar ending.

In my opinion, if you haven't seen State of Play, just skip it. Go rent The Paper, instead, if you haven't already seen it.
