Fun on the Big Screen, Awful In 3D

What a waste of time! Episode I is hard enough to get through with Jar Jar and Shmi Skywalker destroying so much dialogue. This 3D version was very half-assed. Only about 3/4 of the movie was in 3D and it was mainly the background at that. If you have these on blu ray, it's much better to stay home. The pod race and the lightsaber duel were barely in 3D. It was all background. I never felt like a pod or a saber was coming out at me. George, next time you want to milk your fans for money at least make it worth our while!

It's a re-release. So if you missed the first time or are a star wars fan then GO!. But dont go if you are expecting a new movie with really awesome 3D. This movie is basically the extended version with 3D added. As much as Lucas has altered his movies previously, this really was not more than the extended version. I went hoping that he had added 3D explosions or really add vehicles or objects that would WOW me and make me duck or like newer 3D. The previews had better 3D than this movie. The 3D effects just took objects in the original movie and layered them. It was like many 2D objects layered in 3D. No wow, just ok. Don't get me wrong I liked the 3D, but as a re-release it wasn't worth it- Except if you are a Star Wars Fan or have not seen the original.

By far my least favorite Star Wars movie, but the addition of 3D almost made me forget JarJar. 3D and Star Wars seem made for each other. I look forward to the good ones being remade into 3D as well.

It was pretty cool. Being able to take my children to see Star Wars on the big screen made it very much worth this $11.00 per ticket. They want to see the rest now. Which is good for Lucas and OK with me.

What 3D?

Maybe it was poorly rendered in 3D, but i would of enjoyed it better in Blu-Ray on a HD TV. There was very little 3D, it just had depth. I'm a Fan, but make sure you see it at the Matinee price!
