This installment of the Star Trek Franchise casts all key characters from the last movie in 2009, and begins in the first scene with incredible action and heart racing intesity. The movie contains action packed adventure and has spectacular visual and sound effects. Over the previous installment of Star Trek (2009), it partains more the the emotional side of the audience and presents relationships and values that we have all come to know and love. IMBD has already rated this movie #176, in the greatest movies ever made, and that number continues to rise as more votes come in. Personally I would give the newest addition to Star Trek a 9.1 out of 10, [ compared to the Dark Knight Rises at 8.6 out of 10 ] . Add the futuristic appeal yet the present day touch, and you get an enormous blockbuster that is a must watch among people of all ages.

Abrams was excellent in his ability to remain true to the original Star Trek while still entertaining the masses. Rousing and entertaining and should please a majority of movie-goers whether they're die hard Trek fans or not.

The movie had everything, the main characters had the same rapport as before, still very funny. The main characters also got to grow more , and so does the relationships, too. The effects were fabulous. But mostly, the story and characters are what were the best and is the reason to see this movie. The movie shouldn't be seen by small children, because there are at least 2 characters that get there heads smushed by the bad guy. The comedy is good for pre-teens to your grandparents. Yes, I laugh, I cried, and it was apart of me… :-()

Warning : Spoilers
I had heard very good things about the new Star Trek movie, but I mostly remember an above 90s ration on Rottentomato.com. And the visual effects and action were great. However, the story left both my 16 year old son and me unimpressed. I am a long, long time Star Trek fan, so when it became obvious that this movie was a re-telling of an original Star Trek episode plus the second Star Trek movie, I was sorely disappointed. The first movie's story was so original, so to see Star Trek II scenes replayed with minor changes...meh. Oh, and that last scene where Khan picks p a trench coat and runs a la Sherlock Holmes, just seemed like an add for the UK series Sherlock.
Also, the screenwriters seemed to be trying too hard to have cutesy dialog,

twists and turns and familiar phrases
more action then should be allowed for a good story line...
and yet the story is not forgotten or buried, it's in your face and fun
a great retelling of an old story in a new and twisted way that makes your grab your seat like your at an amusement park on the biggest coaster they have
so yeah a great summer flick...
I hope the rest of my summer is this good
