Abrams clearly has no idea what Star Trek is about or really even how to put together a coherent and worthwhile story.
The whole storyline is so gaping with holes that it definitely can't hold water no matter who is watching.
However, if you have seen previous Star Trek movies and episodes and in particular the episodes referenced in the movie (I won't mention to avoid spoilers) your stomach will turn over and you'll want to vomit.
I suspect that without the big budget sequences and special effects the thing would have been better as an SNL Parody because it is exactly that. Special moments that had previous significance are completely ripped off and handled so poorly that the only way to interpret them is as a joke and it is on us the watcher.
This is truly disgusting and JJ Abrams has made it crystal clear he couldn't care less about Star Trek. Unfortunately, he can't seem to make a basic good guy/bad guy movie either with a decent story.

This movie was great, but if you are good at catching the plot holes in movies, this one is riddled with them. My advise is just sit back and enjoy!

My eyes marveled at the beauty of the stars on the screen, the graphics were amazing. This is one movie I guarantee I am going to buy on blue-ray.

J.J. Abrams once again uses his golden touch. Great film, my wife and 9 year old daughter loved it. Language is at times racy for kids, but it is rated for it. Nice to see Earth as the major backdrop for a Trek film. Acting and directing all top notch.

You don't have to be a trekkie to enjoy this movie, but recalling the original Star Trek movies will make this one more enjoyable, given some plot twists. Either way, however, the on-screen chemistry between the new Spock and the new Kirk is fantastic. Some of Spock's lines are LOL-worthy and the young Kirk's impetuous nature is very refreshing. All-in-all, just a fun movie, well worth seeing.
