Go, but......

It is a fast paced exciting movie. I liked it. However, just keep in mind that there is no originality left in Hollywood. They stole a major scene from earlier Star Trek and made It a major part of the movie.....they could have easily put some thought into it and made an "original scene".you will recognize the long scene, it felt like it was just a time filler. The same is true with EVERY SINGLE show on television. Just steal a scene and think that no one will remember where it first occurred. The acting is good, I thought that Karl Urban (dr. McCoy) did a great job even though he does not get a lot of camera time. Go see it. It is more predictable than not, but it is an exciting movie. a new favorite actor of mine Anton Yelchin, is also a great "Chekhov". Oh, one more interesting thing--the "new" Klingon look is good. They don't look like the traditional Klingons, but they fit the idea of them perfectly.

You don't have to be a trekkie to enjoy this movie, but recalling the original Star Trek movies will make this one more enjoyable, given some plot twists. Either way, however, the on-screen chemistry between the new Spock and the new Kirk is fantastic. Some of Spock's lines are LOL-worthy and the young Kirk's impetuous nature is very refreshing. All-in-all, just a fun movie, well worth seeing.

Roles Reversed and an old theme

Really? We've waited so long for this only to get a rehash when Jim and Spock trade roles and the ever present Khan. Didn't like Khan in Star Trek or the Star Trek movie. Can't say there was much improvement in this one. Sometimes it felt trite and confused especially when you can't beam someone up but you can beam someone down, twice. Special effects were bad in some parts. Maybe that was for effect probably for 3D but I didn't even have a suspense of reality for those speeders in San Francisco. The actors playing Jim, Spock, Bones, and Scotty are getting the character down but the character of Uhurah is just pain annoying. Move on nothing to see here.

Star Trek: Into Disappointment

By Lee_Strong

As a longtime Star Trek fan, I was very disappointed in this effort. The plot was a mashup of previous episodes and movies (Space Seed and The Wrath of Khan) with some twists to give the impression of originality. I easily spotted most of the revelations and twists well before they occurred. In addition, the story was shot through with logical errors. Example, if you want to bomb a volcano, why not use a drone instead of risking your First Officer's life? There was a lot of flash and bang to cover up the plot holes but that got old very quickly. Nor were the characters especially interesting. Kirk openly defies Starfleet regulations and lies about it. Uhura and Spock jeopardize a vital mission by having a lover's quarrel on duty. And Admiral Marcus is merely a strawman for the scriptwriter's prejudices rather than a realistic person with a serious point of view. On the other hand, I liked the fact that San Francisco still has cable cars and nightclubs 300 years in the future.

Incredible Movie

This movie was incredible from beginning to end. The tiny references to the old series and just the story and action were incredible. Benedict Cumberbatch was just perfect in his role and dare I say it better than the original actor that portrayed this role. He makes me want to see Sherlock now. Critics were saying that not everyone had enough screeen time but that is not true. Incredible movie and I recomend it to long time trek fans as well as new comers.
