I went with someone who isn't particularly interested in Star Trek, and not a general fan of Science Fiction. She had a blast. She said she didn't realize how much personal drama and humor this film was going to showcase. I agree. On a scale from 1-10, I give it an 8. Fantastic action scenes, memorable dialog, plot twists that were surprising and furthered the story, and joyful humor.

This long-time Trekkie (always hated the "Trekker" title) is blown away. My fiancee, a casual Trek-watcher, really enjoyed herself, as well! This flick has something for everybody and even the biggest Trek-hater will at least get a hell of a ride out of it.

Chris Pine is a much improved Kirk in this film. Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban and Simon Pegg are perfect as Spock, McCoy and Scotty.
The core of the story is a bit familiar and Kirk and the crew does a bit of growing up.
Great film with a worthy villian.

Loved the previous Star Trek, this one was at least as impressive, possibly better. Cumberbatch played the villain extremely well with his demeanor and vocal talent. Plot was well paced, smaller subplots and themes really fleshed out the characters, also setting the series up for future films. Action scenes, visuals and effects were all amazing. My only complaint was Peter Weller as Marcus, he lacked the intensity and realism of the other characters in the film to be believable, wish they would have chosen someone else for his role. Hats off to Abrams for making this new Trek film series so enjoyable for fans as far back as the original TV series.

Nothing about this movie bore any relation to anything that Star Trek is about. Overproduced, terrible dialogue, and unnecessarily garish special effects. They could have just made a sci fi movie and been done with it. I want my money back.
