I loved the first of the new Star Trek movies - I've seen it, wholly or partly, about five times. The reviews of "Into Darkness" were rather luke warm, so that's what I was expecting: a lot of bang bang. But this story was tightly organized and the emotions raised by the lead characters of Kirk and Spock were real for me. The 3D didn't seem quite right at first, but that sense faded and I was soon into the picture. Weaknesses for me: the editing was a little fast paced - flickflickflick - and there wasn't much development of characters other than Kirk and Spock.

Into Darkness was actually better than I had hoped. It was a rush, especially in IMAX 3D. A definite must see if you are a Star trek fan...

Character's mannerisms pay respect to the original. Fabulously acted. Visually stunning with layer upon layer of subtlety that can be appreciated by franchise officianados, but still entertaining for those who are new. Incredibly clever tie-ins between the old timeline and new story.

Regardless of die hard fans, I loved this movie. Great story telling. Great action. Fun to see in IMAX 3D. I'm planning to see it again in 2D.
Some of the violence is intense. Kids should probably not see this movie. The villain crushes a head. They don't show it, but it is intense. Lots of people get killed in this movie.
It is quite a departure from the old Star Trek movies. Body count is definitely higher than the old flicks.

JJ never disappoints. This movie is most of this year if you are a movie goer. from start to finish is a roller coaster, plus the new ship is bad ***for combat situations. I saw it in the IMAX and if you have the change to see.
