While Benedict Cumberbatch's performance was very effective. I believe it was too soon in this series to do a story about Khan. Is this "Wrath of Khan"?!...Not exactly. The story told here in "Star Trek Into Darkness" is a reimaginated take on the "Space Seed" episode that first introduces Khan. Only this time they get the Kilgons (Trekkies and Trekkers please forgive my misspelling) involved here. I would've held off Khan for the third installment personally. Love the Star Ship falling to earth sequence as well as the Spock\ Khan fight.
I like J.J. Abrams, and I'll be real intrigued to seeing what he does with Star Wars Episode 7, I'm putting the vote in for Bryan Singer to direct the third Star Trek film with J.J. Abrams coming back as producer and consultant. Can't wait to see the crew in 5 years ( or maybe just in time for the 50th anniversary).

I liked Star Trek as a TV series as something extra to watch late at night when I'm in a sci fi kind of mood. When I saw the preview for this one I thought ok there seems to be something good here I'll check it out at the theatre in 3D, why not. Damn! This one had all the right ingredients for WOW! It was unpredictably suspenseful and emotionally intense. It got personal. Great mix of characters. Hanging on the tips of their fingers for dear life when all their chips were down and I was hanging on the edge of my seat holding tight onto the armrests because they don't make seat belts on movies theatre seats lol) oh and ah, graphics and sound? Convincing enough to take the "Fi" out of "Sci Fi". This production was very very well done.

I have to join the ranks of all those reviewers who expected great things from this film and got so much more than what was expected. Plotting, special effects, pace...it had everything. As an IMAX experience, it was even more special.
But the acting and the character development are particularly noteworthy. The new Kirk and the newer Spock are 21st century re-creations of the characters we grew to know and love in the 60s and 70s. Their evolution is convincing and hugely, hugely entertaining.
I was entranced, and you will be too!
An absolute must see

I only wish IMAX was available 2D, not 3D. But the movie, well, I would dare say is better than the first. And the first was unbelievable...

Non stop action that was fantastic! Loved the movie and the 3d was spectacular. It was a nice vignette to see Spock with a love interest. I was on the edge of my seat the entire show.
