Imax 3D - YES!

Long time trekkie, and i loved it. I did not expect the take on Kahn, though I did figure it out before he announced himself. The 3D was pretty good, especially in IMAX. I do like the old time references to punch lines, tastefully and well done. I especially enjoyed the emotions Spock displayed. The end was a bit off though - I saw it a mile away, that could have been something less obvious. I think kids 10 or so up would enjoy it. I did not take my kids as they are not fans, and at almost $20 just to watch, that adds up too fast for my budget. But if you like action, space, and adventure, then you would like this film.

A lot of fun!

I enjoyed the "alternate timeline" twist of familiar characters and storylines throughout the film. There's plenty of action and excitement, and I found myself on the edge of my seat throughout. The IMAX 3D experience is especially worth it for the broad panoramas of spacecraft and scenery, as well as the pulse quickening throes of many of the action sequences toward the end of the film. (I'm not giving anything away.) Definitely a film worth seeing, especially in IMAX 3D.

STID Is A Personal Experience ... Look At Review Ratings But Don't Read Body

Unless you are reading mine ... This movie needs you to not be tainted by amateur reviews (like mine) and ranting, ravings, pontifications of a bunch of know it alls ... it is a fun filled movie! It's exciting, it is visually stimulating (if you can -- IMAX is a must), and the story line is one that "YES" for the newbie non-hardcore Trekker as well as the people like Sheldon on Big Bang Theory. The character relationships ... they NAILED it. DeForest Kelley is giving Urban a big thumbs up from the great beyond. Shatner and Nimoy should leave the theater with a big, proud smile too. They all should. Stop reading reviews before they give away all of the amazing pearls and priceless nuggets of this movie. Make it your experience. There is nothing more I can say otherwise I'll have to type something like *** SPOILER ALERT *** GO ! Have a good time.

A New Twist to an Old Foe

Very action filled, entertaining in the way so many moments brought in memories from Star Trek TOS. Characters of Kirk, Spock, Uhura, Scotty, and Chekov were well-played...would have like to have seen McCoy (Bones) have more roll, as I know the actor is a very good actor, but they only focused on the one-lines with him. Being an old Trekkie, I loved the Cameo. Nice references to some TOS original characters. I also like that it was kept PG--no gore, no nudity, no real swearing (maybe once). The theatre (and I) laughed many times, got sad a little, and really got into some of the action--men, women, people of most ages (no young children there, but teens seemed to enjoy it). Worth the price, and I don't say that much. Will probably get this one on BluRay when it is released.
