Thurs 4/23, although I am NOT a member of the 'professional media', tonight I was privileged to attend the exclusive press preview of this 126 min rejuvenated/updated STAR TREK franchise movie.
Visionary director J.J. Abrams's ACTION-PACKED (screenwritten by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci) origins-story EXCEEDED highest expectations!
Themes - revenge/vengeance, heroism/valor/loyalty, duty/responsibility, destiny, self-sacrifice/personal choice all skillfully woven into the riveting plot - every scene maximized.
The scope = IMMENSE! Cinematography = captivating STUNNING!
Detailed GORGEOUS set designs/make-up.
Special effects should please hardcore sci-fi movie fans!
TALENTED cast = SUPERB performances.
Kirk lost the bar fight.
Sulu forgot to remove the parking brakes.
Uhura and Spock an item! *kisses*
Uhura's first name is Nyota.
MAJOR CHANGES in the STAR TREK universe!!
A MUST SEE!
Eject your core if you miss it!

This is a fine summer movie fit for the whole family and especially the sci-fi fans out there like myself.
This was worth the wait and is the beginning of a great summer of sci-fi movies and action action and more action.
The theatre was half on a friday afternoon which is a good sign for any movie and people clapping at various parts of the movie showing this isnt just a way of prying money out of the loyal trekkies but a quality movie in the vein of the starwars prequals so yes you know the ending like reading the back of a book first but the trip there does thrill with action a plenty and good characterisation, plot and scenery, i am deliberatly being vague as you will not thank me for spoiling this movie, lets jus say this is the only movie i have seen this year thus far that i would go back and watch again and plan on exactly that.
To the trekkies out there this fills that void and thankfully keeps star trek in the public eye for one day another series.

I have seen all the other Star Trek films, my favorite ones were 1, 2,4,5 and 6. You all will like this one because the movie is Directed by the man that made the shows Lost, Fringe, Alias and the movie Cloverfield. He is a very brilliant filmmaker.
I know that Leonard Nemoy, Spock from the original Star Trek, is narating the movie.
Since the movie was made from a different perspective than the original ones, many of the cheesy "of this time" things won't be there anymore.

This is the worst movie of the year. I was able to see the early screening of the movie. The writing sucked and the Directing sucked. Millions of dollars are being spent to trick you to see this movie.
If you are a fan of Star Trek, this movie has nothing to do with the Original series. The set designs sucked, the bridge has a tons of lights, and gave me and my friends headaches. If you are thinking about seeing this movie for the Special Effects, just watch the trailers, you see very little cool effects.
Go watch X-MEN or save your money for Terminator. They spent so much money trying to make this movie "Cool" that they dumbed the movie down!
Again, Do not see it!
