The greatest Trek generation

I joined fellow SF fans at the screening of remastered Season 2 episodes of Star Trek: the Next Generation. I enjoyed the camaraderie, special features, and look back at one of the best space opera TV shows as it hit its prime 25 years ago. "Q Who?" introduced the Borg, which would become one of the franchise's greatest villains. John de Lancie's mischief maker played off nicely against Patrick Stewart's Capt. Picard and the rest of the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise. The remastered special effects were clean, although the colors or lighting seemed a bit too dark at times. The audio was excellent, with the starship sounds more pronounced during the opening credits and space battles. "A Measure of a Man" included 13 minutes of restored scenes from Melinda Snodgrass' thoughtful script. Jonathan Frakes as Cmdr. Riker, Stewart, and Brent Spiner as Lt.Cmdr. Data shine in their roles examining android Data's rights. Overall, this did whet my appetite for more heroic, idealistic SFTV.

The interview reel with the TNG cast was GREAT, the making of documentary was excellent. The difference in detail from the originals to the new remastered episodes is very noticable, SO MUCH sharper now. Definitely must get!

Pretty weak so-called restoration. Don't bother going. Watch episodes at home instead.

I found the sound quality poor, parts being too loud suddenly. I guess they took the sound straight from the TV version without adjusting volumes for the theater. Also, the brightness was off. A lot of the darker parts of the screen were simply black. It looked like the picture lamp needed to be brighter. Also, too much pointless chatter from people involved in the production. it all felt like they were just trying to squeeze a little more out of the franchise. Pretty disappointing, I have to say. Maybe I expected too much.

I am a long time Treky (sp?) I accidentally came across the movie on your site. That is my only criticism. Why was there little if any advertising for this event. I found out from other fans that i missed the last one. Somebody in the PR dept. needs to be fired. Loved the presentation. Thought it was better than most of the stuff I watch on TV. Great acting, terrific scripts, engaging stories.

LOVED THE ACTUAL TWO SHOWN WITH Q AND DATA....hated all the commercials leading up to it! It ruined the experience. I did not come to the theatre to see dozens of commercials. I could have stayed home for that and watched it when it came out on blue-ray. One or two commercials fine...but dozens...shame on you!!!
