Julie Andrews is absolutely amazing in her role as British theatre star Gertrude Lawrence. If you love Julie Andrews this is a must see. The costumes are beyond stunning. The musical numbers are a delight. The acting is brilliant. Robert WIse definitely knew how to direct a musical and I could tell that he and Julie Andrews had worked so well together as to put together such a spirited character onscreen. For me -- the movie provided an experience of going to the theatre at the the same time as seeing a film. If you get a chance to see this film at one of the revival houses or on DVD ... take it. You will not be disappointed.

Fantastic print of a less than fantastic film. Entertaining and beautiful to look at but overlong and over the top. Would be a lot worse watching on TV. Once again the glory of 70MM made it work.
