This movie is terrible. It's worse than terrible. And it only fits in the genre of "comedy" because you will spend the entire time laughing that you spent money to see this piece of trash. It's not insightful or artistic. It is crap and sometimes crap is just crap. It is a complete waste of your time, don't even rent on Redbox or watch on tv later. It's not even worth free.

James Franco and Selena Gomez give stellar performances. The script could be tighter and some logic didn't jive. But it was a good script for the most part. Very good directing and editing. Great performances from all of the main cast. I liked it a lot and hope it becomes a classic! I see glimpses of Vanessa Hudgens winning an Oscar at some future point of her career. There were people in the audience where I saw it in Santa Monica, California from all age groups, all genders, class and races! I think this movie is going to make a lot of money!!!!

Horrible movie

I agree with those who said this is the worst movie ever. I don't mind nudity or language that is expected, however this movie never went anywhere and was bizarre and plain stupid. Wasted $10.50x2. I can't even believe the amount they want for movies either.

This is a must see! By far the absolute best movie I have seen in a long time. James Franco's performance is Oscar worthy. If you loved the movie Havoc, and I mean who didn't, you're in for a treat. How can a movie be awesome AND horrible...watch to find out!

An interesting and mostly-successful step into the mainstream by Harmony Korine

As a confronting, out-on-the-edge film-maker, Harmony Korine got strong reactions from the narrow audience of art house film watchers he courted in his early career. "Spring Breakers" is aimed at the mainstream (I think) but also seems designed to provoke strong reactions. The story felt to me like an allegory for an America that is stuck in a type of collective adolescence where the love of sex, guns and consumerism dominate all other values. People who can't stand to see America criticized, or even reflected negatively in the most oblique fashion, will hate this film. I liked it a lot. James Franco's performance is fantastic. An original and eye-catching mixture of film and storytelling approaches taken from different genres of film really worked for me, like a genius combination of two ingredients by great chef. My only issue with this film was the ending, which felt like a studio executive had imposed it to create more of an upbeat resolution to the story.
