Loved it!

It was great! Seeing it in the theater instead of waiting for the DVD to come out meant we got to see some extra footage at the end. Plus, seeing Rome and other places where filming was done on a big screen was magnificent. I could literally feel the emotion in the runners, especially at the start and again at the finish. I think you need to have done a marathon to completely understand and take it in. We laughed and we cried! We felt the triumph of having completed a first marathon and the disappointment in seasoned runners who were not as fast as they had hoped. We felt the stiff legs, cramps, etc. I am so glad we went. Plus, we have a pizza restaurant we want to visit in Rome when we do go there now - the owner, who is 62, is a runner, and he trains with his cousin, who is faster than he is and he's 72!!! Inspirational! I will be doing the Rome Marathon in 2014. This movie got me really jazzed, even though I had already signed up with a tour company before seeing it.

Not just a film for runners

An excellent documentary film that examines the paths that lead 7 runners to the starting line of the 2012 Rome Marathon. They range in experience from two first-timers, through a multiple Olympian at the tail of her career. The film shows us what unique circumstances bring the runners to the race -- be it looking for their place in the world or merely enjoying the journey. The visuals are generally stunning -- how could they not be, this is filmed in Rome, one of the most photogenic cities on Earth! The characters stories are both heartwarming and touching; if you don't shed a little tear while Cliff talks about his story, you must simply have no soul, and seeing Domenico enjoying life to the fullest should bring a smile to your face. This is a film that will be enjoyed by runners everywhere, and those that love them. However, it's really a story of the human will to achieve personal greatness in the face of adversity, and that is something we can all relate to and enjoy.

Found the movie very entertaining as well as moving. Camera work was excellent, story lines intriguing, and the music wonderful. Really enjoyed the trailer for Team World Vision emphasizing how we can all make a difference. 2 thumbs up (RIP, Roger).

I really enjoyed the movie a lot. It inspired me to go visit Rome sometime! The story-telling technique was excellent. I liked the brief vignettes of the various characters who were participating in the marathon. Before, during, after. You found yourself rooting for each runner. They planned it out well. I am quite slow, but I have run one marathon and about 30 halfs. In November, I plan to be a team captain (a first for me) as part of Team World Vision for the 13.1 Ft. Lauderdale---which is the most beautiful course one can imagine---although who can compete with historical ruins of ancient Rome and those beautiful cathedrals as a backdrop? (Since the goal is clean water for African villagers, our team is called "Team H2Go.") I also enjoyed the Team World Vision piece at the end---about running for a greater purpose. I knew nothing about the movie except for an email alert from Team World Vision, so they helped get me in the theatre for such an enjoyable experience. Great movie!

The first Spirit of the Marathon was outstanding...this one is "off the chart"...from the setting in Rome to the amazing personal stories of each runner's journey, this had it all. It really captures the "spirit" for me, and what an incredible group of runners selected! You just fell in love with all of them. KUDOS!!! FYI...stay through the trailers, you MUST SEE the World Vision featurette at the end of the credits! Well done....
