I am a marathoner and saw the first Spirit of the Marathon while training for my first marathon so it has a special purpose in my heart. This movie was good, but I did not find people that I identified with like in the first one. But then there are thousands of marathoners that I cannot identify with in real life. I could understand the overall process and the journeys of each runner. Each was different illustrating the univesality of marathon running. I loved the snippets of historical information splashed across the screen before the actual interviews began. I also appreciated the fact that not all of the runners were confident. Some had doubts about finishing or reaching their goals. Some succeeded while others did not which is what actually happens. I recommend it.

I'm sad that this was a One Night Only movie. Whether you want to complete a marathon, half marathon, 10K or 5K this movie will inspire you.
Seeing the backstory of the runners, watching their struggles on and off training, seeing their triumphs of spirit and body was incredibly moving.
I highly recommend you check it out when it gets to Netflix if you missed it in theaters.

You will laugh, you will cry, you will be on the edge of your seat to see who makes it the 26.2 miles and who doesn't. You will feel their pain and their joy as they complete their journey. Beautifully filmed in the ancient city of Rome. Can't wait for Spirit of the Marathon III. How about making that one about Boston as a tribute?

As runner this movie was very motivating and inspiring to see normal people with the normal everyday struggles on their path to running a marathon.
