A Wrong # You DEFINITELY Need To Dial!!

    by lugubriousthespian

Anatole Litvak's mesmerizing film version of Louise Fletcher's very popular radio thriller SORRY, WRONG NUMBER is a casebook study on how to expand a half hour program and raise it to a film noir masterpiece of calculated, nerve racking suspense. Taking the acting honors away from Agnes Moorehead, Barbara Stanwyck gives an Oscar-nominated performance as a wealthy bed-ridden, insufferably contemptible recluse who slowly discovers that her husband (Burt Lancaster in only his second major role) has plotted to have her murdered. Unerring to a fault, the menace and intrigue build to a combustible climax where no soul can be saved from the lurking doom. Simply put ~ BRILLIANT!
