    Excellent

Not sure why some folks are panning this, we all went today at lunch and simply loved it. It has a great balance of realistically layered with obvious fantasy. It is simply STUNNING to look at and the storyline keeps a good pace. In fact I worried at one point and thought "okay this has been so good are we about to unravel", nope, it transitioned from each scene and idea with smoothness. For us, we will see this again. I guess to each his own. And trust me this movie is a H**** of allot better than Men In Black or the simply Horrible "What to do when your expecting", now those are bad movies.

    Cheers

    Wait for DVD

    by

Have to say I was very excited to see it, have been for months even got to the theatre early for the midnight showing. The visuals are great...but the storyline is not well thought out. There is no real connection between any of the characters. I would have loved to see more passion, excitement, love, better acting?

Overall it left me very disappointed and sleep deprived.

    EPIC DISASTER

I'll admit--I was really excited for this movie. The trailer looked great, the story sounded cool and I was ready to give Kristen Stewart a pass, but man did SWATH disappoint. It's seriously terrible. At the end of our advance screening there was literally NO ONE clapping, just awful silence. What's wrong with the movie, you ask? For starters, the acting is terrible. The first 15 minutes is surprisingly decent but as soon as Chris Hemsworth shows up, the movie goes south REAL FAST. Stewart and Hemsworth are awkward in nearly every scene (Hemsworth's accent is borderline laughable) and the two display very little to no chemistry whatsoever throughout the film. Charlize Theron is pretty good, I'll admit, but even she can't uphold the crappy storyline and cliche'd dialogue. Plus Theron's over the top delivery is a little annoying (you'll get sick of the screaming, trust me). As for the visuals, it really is impressive, but much like the story, you can't rely on beauty in this world. D+

Beautifully Shot, but the Direction was a Bit Off

Snow White and the Huntsman was stunningly filmed. The story/script was good, acting decent and direction was off. Yet very enjoyable and almost a must go just for the scenery, costumes and cinematography.

The fighting scenes sucked. Snow white (Kristen Stewart) is her usual self, not a great actress yet, but interesting enough. Ditto for the Huntsman (the actor who played Thor). Charlize was gorgeous, acted very well for most scenes. I think the director slighted the actors a bit in their monologue scenes by keeping the actors a bit flat or uninteresting. Preteens and above should be able to enjoy this movie.

    Looks Good but acting bad.

    by

After the movie I was left wondering what I'd just lost two hours of my life over. The movie itself looked beautiful and the part of the movie that left the most impact (positively) was where you get all the fairytale-esque elements displayed. I personally felt the writing for the movie itself was lacking and a lot of promising, dark aspects were incredibly glossed over or bypassed all together. But what really killed the film in my opinion was the acting. The acting from almost all the actors was (in my opinion) pretty bland. And I found myself really disliking Snow White simply because Stewart did such a poor job with her. I want to say I liked how Hemsworth did too, but honestly, not really. Unless you're going to support the artists who worked on the film (and did a pretty good job on a lot of the visual effects, compositing and models, etc) - save your money and rent this if you're curious about it.

No whistle while you work this time

The show Snow White and the Huntsman was just ok at best. The story did not capture me the way I thought it would. The commercials of this movie really was the only good part of the movie. It turned out to be kind of a bore really. I give this movie 3 out of 10 stars

Snow White and A New Direction

    by Darkola

This movie wasnt a bad movie, nor was it an over the top movie, it did bring Snow White in a whole new direction, more into an adult world of Snow White, which isnt a bad thing. My faults with this movie was more the acting, Charlize Theron to me was by far the star of this movie as far as acting went, she did a great job, on the otherhand, Kristen Stewart as Snow White, even in the Twilight movies, I was never impressed with her acting skills, yes the movies were hits, but reality is she isnt a great actress, and was a poor choice in this movie as well, then there is Chris Hemsworth, who again, I was disappointed with when he played the role as "Thor", and again, was disappointed with him in this movie as well. This is another one of them movies, where if done right, with the right actors/actresses, could have been so much better with the story being somewhat decent and refreshing, anyways, its not a bad movie, I'd give it 2 1/2 stars out of 4 myself, hope you enjoy :)

    Let Down

I went to see it opening day. The movie looked so very promising in the trailers. Charlize Theron was very strong, played her character very well, and her costumes were amazing. The effects were good, but I wish there had been more to the scenes.... I really wish I hadn't seen the best parts in the commercials and trailers.

The rest of the characters were generally all very two dimensional. I was never very emotionally invested in any of them. Kristen Stewart did her awkward faces we've become so familiar with, and dramatic breathing was the majority of her lines. I don't know why I expected more, as that's what she did mostly in those vampire movies. But I did.

Overall it was really long, and just... ok.

    Slow weak story

I took my 12 and 15 year old daughters, and none of us liked this movie. While the images and costumes were beautiful, the story was really weak. There were too many scenes that really added nothing to the story, which made the movie really drag. Even the plot seemed to just be a bunch of ideas thrown together with no coherence. For example Snow white's supposed magic making everyone feel better, but when someone was actually hurt, she couldn't heal them. The kiss to wake her was not from her true love. Instead it was creepy and based on the love of someone's dead wife that she reminded him of. It could have been better, but they picked a snow white that was just a pretty face, rather than someone that could actually act. And there were way to many extended close-ups of her breathing and saying nothing.

    Sigh.......

Was anxiously awaiting the release of this movie. Awesome graphics half the time but no story. Every time someone talked it left me wanting more. The whole audience is just left to vegetate while being bored to death with a dry script that climaxes early and downfalls for the other 2 hours. The ending fight seen was a joke, it never grabs your attention instead you just feel even more miserable for not waiting to see this movie at a redbox.

excellent movie, exciting, bad leading lady

    by nng

I thought this was a very cool exciting movie..full of suspense, action, drama, decent story/plot to the snow white plot, and it was well done. The only problem I had was with kristen stewart being miscast as snow white- and her horrible acting, eye fluttering, heavy breathing, and lip crunching mouth gaping showing her ugly buckteeth facial expressions being pawned off as 'acting.' she has to be the worst actress on the planet and im not sure why she is being thrown in various films, or why she's even in any hollywood movies. She is a very bad actress and everything from her lacking of being able to show emotions, low voice, lack of expression and stoic lame facial expressions basically ruined the movie. Charlize theron however did a very good job with her role and played an excellent evil queen. Other than that, this was a pretty good movie, and very entertaining and interesting, dramatic, and one that shouldn't be missed. Just please stop putting losers who can't act in hollywood.

    Good concept, terrible execution

    by si179

WOW. This movie was terrible. I actually just created a Fandango account to warn others about this film. There is one word to describe it: boring. I almost fell asleep. Kristen Stewart (who some agent out there thinks can act???) was monotonous as usual. The same facial expression whether she's angry at the Queen or dancing with dwarves. It's sickening actually. Horrible casting on her part. Charlize Theron was not even that good. She tried to be mean & evil as the Queen should, but most definitely fell short. Extremely unbelievable. Even handsome Chris Hemsworth was a snooze-fest. The whole film was boring and overall tried to hard to include intense battle scenes and evil characters. I was excited for this film, but was I wrong. Save your money......please.

I wanted to love this movie...it didn't even make my heart flutter

It was so drawn out. I was so disappointed. The music was screaming "EPIC" but the movie just wasn't. Kristen whatshername acts through dramatic breathing. Charlize Theron was awesome, but there wasn't enough screen time or script for her. Meh. Charlize's costumes were beautifully detailed with all kinds of symbolism. Disney's Snow White was more entertaining. The kisses had no passion. The acting? Kristen seriously looks like she needs to poop throughout the entire film.

    Don't bother

Was excited to see the movie, but half way through, I was bored. The movie was way too long for what it was, and Kristen Stewart...jeez, really? The same vacant look with a slack jaw showing her two rabbit teeth for two hours is a bit much to take. I never saw Twilight (bleh) but surely another actor could have done a livelier job of it. There was a LOT that was unexplained and we were left just wondering why something was there. The rousing speech that Stewart gave to rally the people was like watching a bad acting exercise. It was truly pathetic and wouldn't have roused someone to walk across the street, much less mount a horse and go to battle. A number of folks left during the showing we saw. If I hadn't been with someone else, I would have left also. P.S. Charlize Theron rocked the house!
