The new Bond commemorates 50 years of Bond films, and what a way to celebrate. Borrowing from old and bringing in new, Bond is at his most bold and gripping. This film also proves without a doubt that James Bond isn't going anywhere. There's really a lot to love here, for the more seasoned Bond fan there's a lot of lore and pretty things to look at, for the newer fans of the franchise, Bond proves he can keep up with the new kids, and at times outpace them. A quick word on the villain Javier Bardem, wasn't anything like what I was expecting but I am not disappointed in the slightest, creepy, off putting, funny at times, and even relatable. This really is one of the best Bond's ever and I highly suggest everyone go see it.

Skyfall strips the James Bond franchise down to it's essentials, with affectionate nods to past adventures along the way (the Walther PPK, the Aston Martin, Q and Moneypenny). But rather than simply wallow in nostalgia, the movie also reshapes Bond to truly fit the modern age; something Casino Royale began, but more in set dressing (the use of cellphones and computers) than actual story line. Gone are over the top supervillains with outlandish fortresses in space or stroking their cats in hallowed out volcanoes. Today's threats are more internal and tenacious (a rogue agent who seeks revenge through cyberterrorism and is not hellbent on ruling the world so much as turning it upside down). A recently injured Bond also must rediscover essential truths about himself in order to regain full confidence. It's also one hell of a ride, too! This may very well be the most personal Bond movie; but it's not a soap opera by any means. One of the best Bonds in years.

I guess I keep waiting for the next Casino Royale. I had high expectations for this movie and it did let me down a bit. A typical Bond movie, but setting up for a new series with a new cast. Like I said, lots of action, the story takes a back seat, but well done overall.
That Adele song sounds much better in the movie than it does on the radio.

Bond is Back! It's got everything required for a great Bond movie. Intrigue, explosions, laughs, etc. Go see it. Enjoyed immensely. Going to see it again tonight. Two Thumbs up.

My wife and I liked the movie very much; rated it an A. Being senior citizens, we have probably seen all 23 of the Bond movies, and Skyfall ranks up there at the very top. Daniel Craig seems now very comfortable in his role as 007. Judy Dench was superb as usual. The bad guy was wonderfully evil. It's a great story and definitely worth seeing in IMAX. I don't think some scenes are appropriate for kids younger than teenagers. One younger boy seemed to clutch his older brother often during intense moments. Bringing back elements of some of the past Bond movies was fun, and the homoerotic scene was a bit of a shock, although well done. The Broccoli family should be very proud of this latest attempt to keep the Bond genre alive and well as it enters its second half century. Bravo!
