It is a rarity, but it is nothing short of stupendous when a film exponentially gets better and better; David O. Russell's ("The Fighter") rocks the charts with this winner. Anticipation eliminated: "Silver Lining Playbook" garnishes five sterling STARS!!!!! I loved it... "Silver Lining Playbook" is profound in addressing life's cruel interruptions: loss of the known, love, and self; wounds heal but scars remain sacred, reminders of what's past but not determining, forecasting the future. Resonating with redemption, every character evolves, wordless introspectiveness morphs into rejuvenated, revived genuinely likeable even loveable individuals; striving, struggling within their natural sphere, all achieving their "personal best"... FIVE STARS!!!!! ***For full review please visit peneflix(dot)com!!!

Loved it! Great cast!

I went to see this last night in NY not really knowing what to expect. I read a few things previously, then saw Bradley Cooper doing a tv promo and decided to definitely check it out. I loved it and thought it was funny and quirky and heartfelt and different. It made me feel like I was seeing something more unique than the usual movie fare, and I go to the movies often. The cast was great - I kind of fell in love with Bradley Cooper (he was really good in this role) and it was nice to see Jennifer Lawrence in something completely different after seeing her in "Hunger Games." Robert DeNiro was also very good, I liked seeing a more vulnerable side of him in the "dad" role. I really wish Chris Tucker was used more, he is funny and his role was too limited to me. The entire supporting cast shined in the group scenes especially. I actually may go see this again next week. It really stayed with me for some reason, I think because it showed flawed people in all their beautiful glory.

Probably Bradley Cooper's best...

My partner and I decided to see this movie after watching a pre-release interview with Bradley Cooper. It sounded interested (plus we're from the Philadelphia area) so we decided to find a theater showing it. As there was only one movie theater showing it in our area with only three times available, we were a little wary of just how good this movie would be. The good news was that it was a great little movie with some believable performances by Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence and Robert DeNiro. As a young man dealing with bi-polar depression, Cooper came across as the real deal as he struggles to get his life together after a court-mandated stay at a Baltimore psychiatric hospital. Lawrence plays another character dealing with her own demons after the accidental death of her policeman husband. The two of them meet and the real story begins. Put this movie on your "to do" list...it will definitely be a good addition.

The plot is a little all over the place but somehow it works. Jennifer Lawrence is magnetic...great to see her in this kind of role reminding us that sometimes a dance is enough to get us up to living when life has got us down. Bradley Cooper has a great performance as a romantic man struggling to get his life on track amongst his mental health issues. Robert Deniro as Cooper's father is great as he struggles to compensate for a lost pension (and lost relationship with his son) through a string of bets on his beloved Philadelphia Eagles.

A tour de force

Exceptional movie. it is a Tour De Force of unstoppable humanity in the face of emotional defeat. Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence provide over the top performances and their chemistry is pure hot fusion. Bradley Cooper's portrayal of Pat Solatano is pure genius - he is that guy -- a bi-polar obsessive compulsive who just got out of a mental institution and is intent on getting his life back. Jennifer Lawrence is his mirror opposite and when the two get together for unfiltered conversation -- it moves you to a depth very rarely ever achieved in cinema. You have got to see this Movie!!!
