THIS MOVIE WILL LIVE ON AS A FAVORITE

Excellent overall production. Starts out like a possible chick flick- but it becomes something way more interesting. Even organically growing as it unfolds. The Bi-Polar mental illness theme is unusual but need to be discussed in modern society.
The portrayal of Dr. Patel , the therapist is both funny and accurate.
The fact that both main characters are broken and depressed adds to our involvement and expectations that they will find a way out of this. The imagery of the girl " with a broken wing", may have been borrowed from a Bob Dylan song; but it works here.

The first tentative dance practice between Pat and Tiffany with the Dylan/ Cash rendition of " Girl from the North Country" as background music was truly beautiful cinema, and I think it will live on in Film History of the 21st century.

    Great movie.

    by

Insight into the bipolar mind. Great acting by Robert Deniro as usual and the supporting cast as well. Very believable and very real. It woke me up.

    Silver Linings Playbook: Matt's Take-

Scratch what you know about the actors in Silver Linings Playbook. Forget about Cooper's ultra-ego in films like the Hangover and Lawrence's female bravado in The Hunger Games and look at these actors in a fresh point of view. They are phenomenal. Silver Linings Playbook is by far one of the greatest movies of 2012 (IF not the greatest) and it works on so many levels due to career-performances by Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence. Lawrence got the Oscar that she absolutely deserved for her emotional-turn as a widowed-wife and although I feel that she carried a huge, emotional weight of the film, do NOT forget about frontrunner Bradley Cooper here. Pat Jr. is, and always will be, Cooper's best role because of the emotional core he reaches and also how this is a brand new role for him. When Jennifer Lawrence cries, you cry. When Cooper experiences his breakdowns, you experience a breakdown. David O. Russel has found his silver lining. I love this film. (Five out of Five Stars)
