    The Silent Hill Revelation

    by

First off I will say this, you have to see the first movie for this one to make any sense.
Alot of people are seeing this movie that haven't seen the first one, and they are left confused about everything. Now as for this movie, the progression of the story I thought was really cool. The symbolism and metaphors used I found very intriguing, and again the progression made in the story is very cool (if you can understand it). This movie didn't scare me much, personally I found the first one a lot more scary cause you didn't see all the monsters. This one didn't use the cloak and dagger approach as much, it's more of a straight up slasher approach with the monsters and the darkness. So I prefer the approach of the first movie more, but they definitely did good on the special effects here. I enjoyed this movie and it's message, and I hope they make a 3rd one. Go see it BUT seeing the first one is mandatory, it's on crackle right now, so go watch that before you decide to see this or not.

    Silent Hill, good sequel!

All fans of the original Silent Hill have to go see Silent Hill: Revelation! The story goes on and questions get answered, and all the horrors of the first movie with some new, creepier demons return for this gruesome sequel. Must note that me and my friend saw it in regular, not 3-D and it was perfectly fine. If you're questioning which to watch it in, don't spend the extra!

    Ok

This was rather a disappointment. I thought the 1st one was a lot better then this one. This one is a lot more gory and less spooky as the first. I probably won't buy this when it comes out

    Good visuals

If you're a fan of the original this should work for you. But I liked the parts more than the whole. No real jumps and it lacks some creep factor. Loved the nurses as always. Would have loved a better look at the female blade demon. The visuals are great. The heroine was strong. It seemed rushed and too straight forward. She needed more answers to her and our questions. Good effects they needed more story to match.

    Not Better than the First

It was overall Boring. It did have some scenes where you jumped, or it was a lot of suspense, but defintely not worth the 15 dollars spent. -_- Wait for DVD or Netflix!

    Exceeded my expectations.

Before going to see this movie, everyone said it was a waste of money. After watching, I thought those people may have accidentally gone into a different movie, cause I thought it was great. But it definitely was not up to the standards the first movie set. I think to get the full benefit of it, you probably had to have played Silent Hill 3. There was some corny dialogue at the beginning, and it didn't have the same freaky look the first one did. However, the first full-on Pyramid Head scene almost made me pee. Hate that guy, he haunts my nightmares. The whole Asylum scene was very freaky, 5 stars on that. A little disappointed they didn't use the same little girl for Alessa this time around, but I guess everyone grows up, huh? *spoiler, maybe?* Also happy they hinted toward more movies at the end, hopefully someone else will direct it and give it back that freaky look we loved about the first one. Over-all I think it's a great movie, worth 8 bucks of your hard earned cash.

    Actually, not too bad.

    by

To be honest, there were parts that seemed rushed and could have been alot better. But altogether, the movie didn't feel too long for being an hour and a half, and the story line was pretty good. In the end, you feel fulfilled and satisfied. Altogether, pretty good.

Before you go, read the plot of the 1st movie on wiki

Before I went to this movie, I read the plot line of the 1st installment of Silent Hill on wiki. I'm glad I did. It made all the difference in the world. I would have been lost without the refresher. As long as you familiarize yourself with the basic plot from the first movie, you'll be fine - and as a result enjoy the movie much more.

    One of the better sequels

Definitely a nice follow up. It retconned the first movie a bit, but it wasn't anything major. Just some small tweaking to keep it cohesive. They brought back some of the original members from the first to reprise rolls which was nice. I always hate recasts when they're unnecessary because the new person rarely comes close to the original. The dialogue was well written and the ambiance through the different scenes was very carefully maintained. In general it was well paced and the special effects were improved upon. There were some new creatures introduced that were well imagined and created, and the scene in the asylum is arguably on of my personal favorites. Basically, if you liked the first, you'll want to see the second.

    I would see it again!

    by sketron

As always, Silent Hill films are always vague, so I expected that much. However it seemed to build up ridiculously for you to meet this big bad enemy, only to be a little disappointed in the end.

Silent Hill.. Emphasizing on the Silent. (SPOILER)

    by

I had been waiting for this for a few years now, and was quite excited to see this. Though after seeing the movie kinda felt like, "Huh?" To start off, it fills a few holes from the first, and brings back old monsters* and some new ones. It lacks the creep and gore that the first one had, but is still visually appealing. The movie feels rushed and predictable, and the acting is alright from a non-theater/critic perspective. I hated that they added the love story, and the ''Clash of the Titan' battle at the end.

Overall I did enjoy my time watching it, but I do no recommend for people who are looking for the creepy silent hill we saw in 2006, or looking for a cheap scare. This just ends up being a mediocre film that feels watered down and rushed.

    *No Fire babies :(

    Depressing follow up

Being a fan of the Silent Hill game franchise the first movie had a lot to live up to and in most cases it did. It did a fair job of translating the mood and atmosphere of the games onto film. Sadly the follow up, Silent Hill Revelations, failed in every aspect. It starts off with a very promising opening but quickly falls apart. This movie is an example of what happens when you pair a screenwriter and a director who obviously have no love for the source material. I will keep this spoiler free but to be frank all aspects of this story are either contrived, convoluted, or not necessary. We have a lot of buildup to a rushed, confusing, and disappointing ending. Everything fails in this movie, the cinematography, the visual effects, the acting, and even the sound design. This movie is a complete failure. This is a shame because the game franchise has some of the best backstory out there, instead of seeing this movie I suggest you purchase and play the games.
