Good plot and story line

If you can put the plausibility factor setting at mid point you will probably enjoy this yarn with Jude Law carrying the weight of this story. There are several gaps in the storyline that stretch things thin. A few surprises do ensue and you are caught by some that are credible but thinly so.. On a scale of 1 - 10 with 10 being out of this world I'd give it a 6.4.

Yet another case of some talking head movie critic going on a morning talk show and raving wildly about a movie and the movie itself not living up to the rave. This movie is ok and the twist at the end is a surpise but dangggggg, it takes a looonnnnggg time to get there with lots of useless throw away shots that do not advance the plot imo. On the plus side, Rooney Mara is really good though she plays yet another dark, moody edgy character. would be nice to see her in something light and upbeat to see if she has the chops for that. I really like her, but would just like to see her do something that isn't so derivative of her role in The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo. Jude Law is excellent and carries the movie imo. Great actor! All in all, an ok but not exceptional movie, critic's opinion not withstanding. I think some critics are too much a part of the Hollywood movie industry and will offer up a positive review of a movie just because they like certain actors, directors etc.

Amazing

Drugs and depression. Steven Soderbergh takes both head-on. Emily Taylor’s life is on the brink of total collapse after waiting for four years for her husband to get out of prison. Then she encounters Doctor Jonathan Banks. He tries his best to help her. There is copious drug use. Emily’s condition begins to improve, but then tragedy strikes, and it threatens to bring them down. The viewer envies the characters and their glamorous lives, even more so as they destroy themselves. The viewer needs to remind themself that these characters do not exist, and this is a fiction. In the end it is not drug use that is being criticized, but rather the avaricious soul-sucking void, the characters' needs to engulf their surroundings, and the sociopathic culture that made them this way Get more at getthebonesaw.blogspot.com

Wow! You Won't See It Coming!

What an entertaining movie - well acted by all. The twists and turns are such fun - you really cannot anticipate where this will go next so just let go and enjoy the ride. Jude Law does is quite convincing as the bewildered psychiatrist and Rooney Mara is quite convincing as the "victim" of unanticipated side effects. It's hard to say more without spoiing it all - just go!

I thought it was a good movie. We always rate the movies from 1 to 10. Ten being the best and one being the worst. I rate it an 8. My husband gave it a 7. And adult son gave it a 6.
