    I'M ASHAMED-MRK,MD

    by caymus

At the midpoint of SICKO, I was not surprised by the information being depicted and the accompanying narrative of Mr. Moore..I realized I was ashamed at being an American physician in private practice for 40 years. I live in Italy six months of the year and have used the Italian health care system which is offered to all permanent residents and its citizens. It is excellent and not driven by profit. Although Mr. Moore is critical of Kaiser Permanente, it is the best HMO model we have as it spends 95 cents of every health care premium it receives on direct patient care. The"big blues" (Blue Shield and Blue Cross) as well as the majority of the other major HMOs mentioned spend 12-15% on administrative costs, leaving only 85-88 cents for patient care. The middle and upper level managment of these companies make more than most primary care physicians. We must focus on erasing this concept of profit ingrained in the system at the current time. Let's focus on care for those without access.

I loved it truly as educational experience. I took my two boys ages 13 and 15 and they too walked away enriched by the experience. It made us think and question, how many films can do that. Our initial response was maybe we should pack up and move to France. Michael thanks for being out there and doing what you do.

This is an important movie to see and will have you laughing or crying the entire time

    by gab822

The issues regarding health care Moore addresses in this movie are extremely critical and timely. This is perhaps Moore's most touching and entertaining film. Although it is certainly fair to argue that some of the topics (i.e., the health care system in Cuba) are presented in a slanted fashion (i.e, Moore doesn't portray how Cubans often face shortages of basic medicines and supplies or how some people in countries with national health care purchase supplemental insuannce to make sure they have ready access specialized care ), it is clear that he raises many excellent points and allows many people share their tragic stories that would not be heard otherwise. Don't let your misgivings about Moore's style prevent you from seeing this movie. Hopefully, it will encourage us Americans to take action (put aside our political affiliations), stop being afraid, and demand universal health care for all!

    Cuban American Reviews SICKO

This documentary was the best I've ever seen. Having once experienced health care in Cuba, I founded accurate. Cuba provides the best answer to universal, low cost health care.Moore should have shown how Cuba, a poor country, provides free health care, not only to its people, but also to 68 other countries around the world, a feat superior to France and the U.K. This film is a must see for everyone in the U.S.

I love all the republicans that click OH NO, because they think they have to.

Can we get a grip please. Im sick of people passin judgement on other people or things, because of what political party they come from. Bottom line is, See the movie, maybe some is true or some isnt. bottom line is, we dont have a national heath care system. AND WE SHOULD. Those people you said not to see this are probably the same people who said al gore is wrong. and not because they actually believe this, but because they thing, im a republican so i have to go along for the ride. even if i do come off as a moron. I mean come on, one persons name who said dont go is Bobby Ray, for god sakes if that isnt some southern raised crazt right wing christian republican, then i dont know what is.

    POWERFUL!!!!!

This film is an incredible expose on the HMO system of health care and how the goal is to DENY services. Then he visits Canada, Great Britian, France, and Cuba where they have socialized medicine. Careful, because this movie can bring you to tears wondering if a loved one would still be alive in a different system or country and the Cuba section is particularly amazing!

    Painful but True

It's about time we addressed the most critical issue facing us and our children. The shocking state of health care in the U.S. For any one who has been outside the U.S. for any time, it's obvious that all of the other developed countries have figured out how to truly care for their people, but not us Americans. This movie brings the message out loud and clear.

    Required for legislators

    by seahawk

Legislation is needed NOW to bring the U.S. into the real world and stop the deaths resulting from our profit-motivated healthcare system. This film is very entertaining, and will result in more of us speaking out to change things.

    Moore's Best

This movie is a real eye opener, and comes at at time when Congress is working on bi-partisan legislation to cover at least half of the 9 million uninsured children in the US - a bill that Bush has already stated that he would veto because it would "hurt insurance companies".

    Go see "Sicko"!!!!!

    by sairey

I'm 58; my husband and I both went to "Sicko." I have had various (sometimes life-threatening) illnesses lately so it's given me some worries about healthcare, At the end of the movie I actually cried, and I don't cry over movies anymore. Ever. I felt so sorry for the people who were profiled. It was VERY ENLIGHTENING.

US Insurance Industry Has a High Fever!!

    by chaas

If you wonder why people with health insurance get sick and die, watch this movie. It's just that plain and simple...and it also teaches why socialized medicine in countries like Canada, Great Britain and France (yes, France) work sooooo much better that the HMO system we're all so familiar with.

    SiCKO

This is actually a very good movie!! I was surprised as to how much I learned about our (the US's) health care system. Even if you don't like Michael Moore, you should watch this movie because you will learn SO much about health care.

Every word of it is true!

As a healthcare provider, I sat thru this movie nodding my head and saying "amen". We are being lied to by our congress and our president about the poor care provided in other countries while the insurance and pharmaceutical companies are getting richer. Everyone needs to see this movie and everyone needs to do something about it.

    Shows the Truth About America

America's not perfect. This movie shows people who haven't had any experience with HMOs how awful they make our society. Everyone should see this movie and then maybe we'd all be able to somehow fix the major problems with health care today.
