Go to this movie if you have a gift card or fandango money, otherwise wait for the DVD. It was good, but not great. Robert Downey Jr and Noomi Rapace were the best.

Killing off Rachel McAdams? common give me a break, this is the most beautiful woman in the world: say it ain't so!!! The flight scene in the woods was the bomb! Great cinematography, editing and special efx. Jude Law and Robert Downey were great,! Chemistry is amazing. Moriarty, just as you imagine! 5 Stars all the way around!!!

Sherlock Holmes?

Ok so it isn't really the Sherlock Holmes I've read all of and been fascinated with for years BUT, I must admit I did enjoy this movie. The reason? I love Robert Downey Jr in this character (whoever he is...not really SH). He's funny and compelling and has totally unbelievable capabilities and always comes out on top. Good always beats out evil in this film, just as in the old movies from the 40's which is quite satisfying in these times, when evil seems to have the stronger hand. Professor Moriarty was deliciously bad and I also enjoyed Jude Law as Doctor Watson, the very loving (VERY loving, as in lover?) of "Shirley" (as he is called by his really funny older brother..he had a brother?). The story was a trifle confusing, especially with all the slow motion sequences that occur before all the action scenes, but it didn't really matter. It was very entertaining.

Generic action flick passed off as Sherlock Holmes

I was sorely disappointed with this movie. I was expecting Sherlock Holmes but in the end you really could have made this movie using any character. Turning the Sherlock Holmes franchise into a martial arts fighting, swashbuckling action hero really does a disservice to what makes Sherlock Holmes so entertaining. Just another instance of Hollywood ruining a masterpiece by ignoring what made the original so compelling and instead injecting it with special effects laden action mumbo jumbo.
