Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows review

Game of Shadows is an enjoyable take on the Sherlock Holmes characters. There's more action than in the original stories, but Doyle did say that Holmes was an expert boxer, so it's not too out of line.

If you enjoy exceptional effects alone

    by

It's fast moving and pumped full of action, with, and special effects. with that said, that's all your getting, a vague plotline in accompanied by millions of small seemingly meaningless clues, until you reach the climax which pills only a SMS percent of it together. Spiratic story telling that starts smart but ends chaotic, leaving you to try to full in the empty spaces the story left out. The film attempts to spur the audience away from it's faulty wiring of it's empty story by dowsing it with special effects, children and those who only want action and wit will enjoy this sequel. Those who loom for more find disappointment.

New version for a new age.

An updated Holmes, a strong Dr. Watson and lots of fun. A little too much fighting for my taste, but ok.

The sequel to the well reviewed Sherlock Holmes; more action, more bullets, more fun!

Funny but pay attention to details!

This movie was better than the first. I almost missed some of the clues. You might need to see it twice.

Much better than the first go-round. I now hope there is another movie in the series.

    Not very elementary

The movie was just a run through of all the stuff that made the first one great. The plot was lame. The characters were flat or there just for a body. The only good strides were RDJ and Jared Harris and their actual confrontation, but that is 100 minutes or so too late.

    Laughing and a little confusion

    by

Personally I loved the film. It stayed true to the original with some quirks to keep it fresh. The scene when Sherlock Holmes (Robert Downey Jr.) is dressed as a woman was a bit much but I thought the rest of the film was great. The film was dark and I mean literally, apparently there wasn't much sun where ever they were. There was just enough mystery for me to be curious and thinking, but not to frustrated to follow. I laughed and was entertained greatly. If you like a bit of a mystery and sarcasm then I would suggest this film. It has a bit of emotional appeal for the girls and some decent fight scenes for the macho-men. Definitely a must see!
